Nangang Park Introduction
Nangang Park was established in 1987, covering an area of approximately 11.8 hectares. The park is situated by the mountains and water, featuring buildings with rich Chinese architectural style, and has an impressively grand Chinese archway at its entrance. It is located at the intersection of Dongxin Street and Chengfu Road, bordered by the National Defense Medical Center to the north and Nangang Housing Complex to the south. To the east, one can enjoy a distant view of the Four Beasts Mountain in Xinyi District, offering a broad vista. This is the largest landscape park in Nangang District, featuring a natural pond. The pond within the park is known as Houshan Pond, which once consisted of two large ponds. With the decline of agriculture in Nangang, the construction of Nangang Park and Nangang Housing Complex resulted in part of "Houshan Pond" being filled in, now forming a U-shaped flood retention basin surrounding a small hill, maintaining flood prevention and water level regulation functions. The park features a diverse range of vegetation, including trees such as banyan trees, bottle trees, maple-leaved cork trees, and acacia trees. Along the pond's edge, sea almonds and willows are planted, while the areas around the music stage and parking lot feature various species of trees such as sapodilla and traveler’s palm, along with a diverse array of flowering and ornamental shrubs like exacum, crane flowers, azaleas, wax myrtle, red bamboo, and croton, creating a rich and varied plant landscape in the park. Along the lakeside walkway, families can take their children to the Nangang Park Forest Adventure Playground. The playground integrates with the natural environment and terrain features, offering facilities such as dual zip lines, a rolling slide, and sand pits, allowing children to engage in play while also challenging their physical abilities.
