Nangang Park Introduction

Nangang Park was established in 1987, covering an area of approximately 11.8 hectares. The park is situated near mountains and water, featuring architecture with rich Chinese style, and has an impressive traditional Chinese archway at the entrance. It is located at the intersection of Dongxin Street and Chengfu Road, adjacent to the Joint Headquarters to the north and Nangang Public Housing to the south. To the east, one can gaze towards the Xinyi District's Four Beasts Mountain, with expansive views. It is the largest scenic park in Nangang District and has a natural pond. The pond inside the park is called Houshan Pond, which used to be two large ponds. With the decline of agriculture in Nangang, the development of Nangang Park and Nangang Public Housing resulted in part of the "Houshan Pond" being filled in. Today it forms a U-shaped detention pond around a small hill, maintaining functions for flood control and water level regulation. The park is home to a diverse variety of plants, including tree species such as banyan, ficus, Acer negundo, and acacia. The edges of the pond are planted with sea almond and willows. Around the music platform and parking lot, there are many other tree species, such as Dillenia and traveler’s palm, along with various flowering and ornamental shrubs like impatiens, canna lily, azaleas, Syzygium samarangense, red bamboo, and variegated plants, creating a rich and diverse botanical environment. Walking along the lakeside path, visitors can take children to the Nangang Park Forest Adventure Playground, which is integrated with the natural environment and topography, featuring facilities such as dual zip lines, rolling slides, and sand pits, allowing kids to enjoy and challenge their physical abilities.
