Nangang Park Introduction

Nangang Park was established in 1987, covering an area of approximately 11.8 hectares. The park features mountainous terrain adjacent to water, with architecture rich in Chinese style, including a grand Chinese gate at the entrance. The park is located at the intersection of Dongxin Street and Chengfu Road, bordered to the north by the Armed Forces Command Headquarters, to the south by the Nangang Public Housing, and offers a wide view towards the Xinyi District and the Four Beasts Mountain to the east. It is the largest scenic park in Nangang District, boasting a natural pond. The pond in the park, known as Houshan Pond, was formerly two large ponds. With the decline of agriculture in Nangang and the development of Nangang Park and Nangang Public Housing, part of "Houshan Pond" was filled in, forming a U-shaped flood retention basin around a small hill, which maintains its function of flood prevention and water level regulation. The park features a diverse range of plant species, with trees such as Banyan, Ficus, Acer, and Acacia; along the pond's edge, there are plants like Sea Grapes and Willows; around the music stage and parking lot, there are various tree species including Dilemma Peach and Traveler's Palm, along with flowering or colorful foliage shrubs like Lobelia, Crinodendron, Rhododendron, Syzygium, Red Bamboo, and Polyscias, creating a rich and varied plant landscape in the park. A walking path around the lake also leads to the Nangang Park Forest Adventure Children's Playground, which is designed to blend with the natural environment and terrain, featuring facilities such as a dual zip line, roller slide, and sandpit, allowing children to enjoy play while also challenging their physical abilities.
