Nangang Park Introduction
Nangang Park was established in 1987, covering an area of approximately 11.8 hectares. The park is situated by the mountains and water, featuring architecture rich in Chinese style, with a grand Chinese-style entrance gate. The park is located at the intersection of Dongxin Street and Chengfu Road, adjacent to the Joint Logistics Command to the north and Nangang Public Housing to the south. To the east, it offers a distant view of the Xinyi District's Four Beasts Mountain, providing a vast vista. It is the largest scenic park in Nangang District, featuring a natural pond. The pond in the park is known as Houshan Pond, which was once two large ponds. With the decline of agriculture in Nangang, much of the original Houshan Pond was filled in due to the establishment of Nangang Park and Nangang Public Housing, resulting in a U-shaped detention basin surrounding a small hill that maintains flood control and water level regulation functions. The park is home to a diverse range of plant species, including trees such as banyan, /.Macaranga tanarius/, maple-leaved winged wood, and acacia. Around the pond, there are sea grape and willow trees; near the music stage and parking lot, various tree species like delonix regia and traveler’s palm are planted. Additionally, flowering and colorful foliage shrubs such as alternanthera, ginger lily, azalea, and crimson bamboo enhance the diversity of the park's plant life. Along the trails circling the lake, families can take their children to the Nangang Park Forest Adventure Playground, which integrates with the natural environment and landscape. The playground features facilities such as dual zip lines, rolling slides, and sand pits, allowing children to have fun while also challenging their physical abilities.
