Nangang Park Introduction

Nangang Park was established in 1987 and covers an area of approximately 11.8 hectares. The park is situated along the mountains and water, featuring architecture rich in Chinese style, with a grand Chinese archway at the entrance. The park is located at the intersection of Dongxin Street and Chengfu Road, bordered to the north by the Joint Logistics Command and to the south by the Nangang National Housing. To the east, visitors can enjoy a distant view of the Xinyi District and the Four Beasts Mountain, making it the largest scenic park in Nangang District with a natural pond. The pond within the park, known as Houshan Pond, used to consist of two large ponds. With the decline of agriculture in Nangang, the establishment of Nangang Park and the Nangang National Housing led to the filling in of parts of Houshan Pond, which now forms a U-shaped flood retention basin surrounding a small hill, maintaining functions for flood control and water level regulation. The park features a diverse array of plants, including trees such as banyan, Ficus microcarpa, maple-leafed winged sumac, and acacia; along the pond's edges, there are sea grape and willow; around the music stage and parking lot, there are various species of trees such as Durel peach and traveler’s palm, along with flowering or colorful ornamental shrubs including begonia, plumeria, azalea, and red bamboo, creating a rich and diverse plant landscape. Along the lakeside walkway, families can take children to the Nangang Park Forest Adventure Playground, which is designed to blend with the natural environment and terrain, featuring facilities such as a dual zip line, rolling slide, and sand pit, allowing children to play while also challenging their physical abilities.
