Nangang Park Introduction

Nangang Park was established in 1987, covering an area of approximately 11.8 hectares. The park features a landscape characterized by mountains and water, with architecture rich in Chinese style, including an impressive Chinese-style gateway at the entrance. It is located at the intersection of Dongxin Street and Chengfu Road, north of the Military Logistics Command and south of the Nangang Public Housing. To the east, one can enjoy a distant view of the Xinyi District and the Four Beasts Mountains, offering a broad vista. This is the largest scenic park in Nangang District, featuring a natural pond. The pond within the park, known as Houshan Pond, was once two large ponds. With the decline of agriculture in Nangang, the construction of Nangang Park and Nangang Public Housing led to the filling of some parts of the "Houshan Pond." Today, it has formed a U-shaped flood retention pool surrounding a small hill, maintaining its functions of flood prevention and water level regulation. The park has diverse vegetation, with trees such as banyan, Chinese tallow, maple leaf wingwood, and acacia. Around the pond, there are also sea grape and willow trees. Near the music stage and parking lot, one can find various trees such as flowering peach and traveler’s palm, along with many other species. The park is complemented by flowering or colorful ornamental shrubs like Astrophytum, Heliconia, azalea, Syzygium, red bamboo, and croton, creating a rich and varied botanical landscape. Visitors can stroll along the lakeside paths and take their children to the Nangang Park Forest Adventure Playground. This playground is designed to integrate with the natural environment and terrain, featuring facilities such as double zip lines, a rolling slide, and sandpits, allowing children to enjoy playtime while also challenging their physical abilities.
