Nangang Park Introduction
Nangang Park was established in 1987, covering an area of approximately 11.8 hectares. The park is situated near the mountains and water, featuring architecture rich in traditional Chinese style, with a magnificent Chinese entrance gate. It is located at the intersection of Dongxin Street and Chengfu Road, adjacent to the Combined Armed Forces Headquarters to the north and the Nangang Public Housing to the south. To the east, visitors can enjoy a distant view of Xinyi District's Four Beasts Mountain, offering a wide vista. This is the largest scenic park in Nangang District, and it has a natural pond. The pond within the park is called Houshan Pond, which once consisted of two large ponds. As agriculture in Nangang declined, Nangang Park and Nangang Public Housing were established, and part of the "Houshan Pond" was filled in. Today, it has formed a U-shaped flood retention basin surrounding a small hill, maintaining functions for flood control and water level regulation. The park features a diverse array of plant species, including trees such as banyan, jackfruit, maple-leafed wingceltis, and acacia; along the pond, there are sea grape and willow trees; around the music stage and parking lot, various trees like Taiwan cherry and traveler’s palm can be found, along with several other species. Additionally, flowering and colorful ornamental shrubs like impatiens, cranes-bill, azaleas, Kenzel's guava, red bamboo, and croton enhance the rich and varied plant life within the park, showcasing a diverse landscape. Along the lakeside walking path, families can take their children to the Nangang Park Forest Adventure Playground, which integrates with the natural environment and terrain. The playground features facilities such as double zip lines, rolling slides, and sand pits, allowing children to have fun while also challenging their physical abilities.
