Hua Duh Pond Ecological Park Introduction
The surrounding environment of Pingzhen Woduba Pond Ecological Park is not too noisy, with only a tranquil lake and bamboo groves silently watching over it, seemingly guarding some old memories. This approximately 0.7-hectare ecological space around the lake was once a pond where the Shimen Agricultural Irrigation Association allowed fishing. Since 2008, it has been transformed into an ecological park that combines local culture and natural scenery, and it received recognition from the Taoyuan City Government by winning the Fourth Public Works Golden Quality Award in 2010. Its name is derived from a pot, and the term "Woduba" refers to the bottom of the pot in Hakka language, as the pond resembles a large pot. This naming connects local language with the shape of the land, leaving a unique memory of the land. From the very name, the park is not just a green space but rather a medium linked to local culture. The red bricks, tiles, and cobblestone walls within the park outline a simple Hakka architectural style, as if reclaiming the traces of Hakka culture in a modern space. In the shifting light of the seasons, walking slowly along the lakeside path, the bald cypress and tung flowers quietly change colors with the seasons, inviting visitors to linger a little longer. Here, there is not only the breath of ecology but also thoughtful design — the varied terrain creates a 10-meter high slide, multifunctional climbing equipment, and a pure white sandbox that becomes a playground for children, blending play with the environment. The path above the slide connects with the Shimen Waterway Trail, shaded by greenery, allowing for a leisurely stroll to continue. In addition to natural and recreational spaces, the park has also collaborated with the irrigation association to establish a management center to promote ecological education activities, guiding visitors to observe the ecological environments of rhinoceros beetles and the Collared Scops Owl.
