Fugang Geopark (Xiao Yeliu) Introduction
Fugang Geopark (Little Yehliu) is located in the waters north of Fugang Fishing Port and is the southernmost scenic spot on the eastern coast. The terrain and rock types here resemble those of Yehliu in Beiguan, hence it is referred to as "Little Yehliu." The park features a visitor center, stores, camping areas, and coastal trails. Visitors can not only admire various types of strange rocks, listen to the waves, and watch fish play in the water, but on clear days, they can also see Green Island approximately 33 kilometers away. Camping here offers a unique experience of falling asleep to the sound of the sea under the night sky. The stunning landscapes created by the ocean and tectonic movements, shaped through uplift and centuries of erosion, give rise to spectacular formations like tofu rocks and honeycomb rocks, while the weathering of rock layers has carved out various odd rock formations, among which the Big-eyed Frog Rock, Camel Rock, and Turtle Formation are the most famous and must-capture sights at Fugang Geopark (Little Yehliu). From April to October each year, the “Night Tour of Little Yehliu” event is held, where volunteer guides lead visitors to explore the park's nighttime ecological environment and observe the hermit crabs that inhabit Fugang Geopark (Little Yehliu), allowing people to discover another side of this area after dark. Additionally, this event collects empty shells to help hermit crabs find new homes.
