Cheng Kung Marine Environmental Education Center Introduction
The Kuroshio Current has created rich habitats for whales, dolphins, and marine life in the waters near Chenggong. Near the Chenggong New Harbor Fishing Port, there is a marine environmental classroom that introduces various species of whales and dolphins, the process and tools featured in the film "The Catch," as well as Chenggong's unique fishing culture. Through free and engaging guided tours, along with irregularly scheduled marine-themed excursions, exhibitions, and whale-watching trips, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the precious marine ecology around Taitung, making it an excellent place for families to learn about marine life together. In addition to listening to the guided tour at the marine environmental classroom, it's also worthwhile to stroll around Chenggong Township to enjoy delicious food, experience the lively shouts in the fish market, and finally visit the only sailfish temple in Taiwan, where it is said that touching the wooden sailfish deity's head, belly, and tail can grant your wishes.
