Cheng-kung Ocean Environment Classroom Introduction
The warm Kuroshio Current has fostered a rich diversity of whales, dolphins, and marine life in the waters around Chenggong. Near the Chenggong New Port Fishing Harbor, there is a marine environmental classroom at the yacht harbor. This facility introduces various species of whales and dolphins, the processes and tools used in the fishing of marlin featured in the film "The Wave," as well as the unique fishing culture of Chenggong. Through free and engaging guided tours, along with periodic marine-themed itineraries, exhibitions, and whale-watching trips, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the precious marine ecology surrounding Taitung, making it a perfect destination for family outings to learn about marine life together. In addition to attending guided tours at the marine environmental classroom, take the time to stroll around Chenggong Township to enjoy its culinary delights, experience the lively shouts from the fish market, and finally visit the only marlin temple in Taiwan. It is said that touching the head, belly, and tail of the wooden marlin god can grant wishes and make dreams come true!
