Success Story Museum Introduction
The first floor exhibition area is divided into a permanent exhibition area, showcasing local marine culture with audiovisual presentations of fixed-net fishing operations, an introduction to swordfish species, legendary stories of spear fishermen, and a display of old photographs, among others. The other exhibition area is a special display area, which will periodically showcase local cultural arts, economic industries, antique exhibitions, and results of various events. Chenggong Township is long and narrow from north to south, with settlements developed by various ethnic groups lined up along the coastal plain. The Amis people are the main ethnic group in the area. There are a total of eight administrative villages within the jurisdiction, with the majority of the population engaged in agriculture, followed by fishing. The Amis people are a matriarchal society known for their optimistic and simple nature, with unrefined singing and primitive dance steps that blend with the sounds of the wind and waves, resulting in a lifestyle and rituals that are seamlessly integrated with nature. The Harvest Festival is the essence of Amis traditional culture and is the event that best highlights Amis characteristics, holding great significance for the continuity of the ethnic group and the preservation of culture. The coastal villages of Chenggong Township, from south to north, include Xiaoma Village, Duli Village, Fengtian Village, Heping Village, Qilin Village, Minfeng Village, Sanmin Village, Zhitian Village, Sanxian Village, Meishan Village, Xiaogang Village, Yushuiqiao Village, Chong'an Village, and Yuwan Village, totaling fourteen villages. Each year, from July to early August, each village selects a time to begin the annual Harvest Festival, where the lively dancing and joyful singing allow travelers to immerse themselves in the rich Amis cultural atmosphere. You are welcome to come and share in the joy of the annual Harvest Festival, to receive an unrefined baptism, and to experience the Amis philosophy of coexistence with nature.
