Penghu Ocean Bridge Introduction
The scenic bridge at the entrance of Dapeng Bay in the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area was completed and opened to traffic in March 2011. It is the first arching scenic bridge in the country designed to accommodate the entry and exit of sailing boats. In the future, it will be linked with the construction of a BOT yacht harbor, allowing for the access of large sailboats, and will develop into an international-level yacht and maritime leisure activity hub, forming a "Golden Triangle" of yacht activities in conjunction with the Kaohsiung Love River sightseeing pier. The Dapeng Bay Cross-Sea Bridge has a total length of 579 meters and a width of 30 meters, with the main tower reaching a height of 71 meters above the water surface. The bridge is designed to allow a maximum height of 17 meters above water (with a water span of approximately 70 meters), and it opens to a span of 20 meters to fulfill the entry and exit requirements of various types of recreational vessels. Its design features a single-tower asymmetric single-side cable-stayed bridge, characterized by a unique three-dimensional design (as opposed to the typical two-dimensional bridge shape). From the front, it resembles a mythological bird holding something in its beak, from the side it appears as a bending young woman, and from the back, it looks like the letter "A." The movable bridge deck can open to an angle of 75 degrees in just two minutes. Additionally, there is a bridge-opening show every Saturday afternoon at five o'clock. At night, the bridge is illuminated, providing not only a beautiful scenic image but also serving as a landmark for working vessels and recreational activity vessels on the water.
