Penghu Cross-Sea Bridge Introduction
Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area's circular bay road, located at the entrance of Dapeng Bay (next to the Qingzhou Recreation Area), features a scenic bridge that was completed and opened for traffic in March 2011. It is the first openable scenic bridge in the country designed to accommodate the entry and exit of sailing boats. In the future, with the development of the BOT yacht harbor, it will allow large sailing boats to enter and exit, fostering international-level yacht and marine activities, which will further form a "Golden Triangle" for yacht activities in conjunction with the Kaohsiung Love River Tourist Wharf. The Dapeng Bay Bridge spans a total length of 579 meters, with a width of 30 meters. The main tower rises 71 meters above the water surface, and the bridge's highest point from the water is 17 meters (with a water span of approximately 70 meters). The opening span reaches 20 meters, accommodating various types of recreational vessels. Its design features a single-tower asymmetrical cable-stayed configuration, characterized by a unique three-dimensional design, unlike conventional two-dimensional bridge styles. From the front, it resembles a mythical bird holding an object, from the side it resembles a bending girl, and from the back, it resembles the English letter "A". The movable bridge deck can open to a 75-degree angle in just two minutes, and there is a bridge opening show every Saturday afternoon at 5 PM. At night, illuminated by lights, it not only provides a beautiful landscape but also serves as a landmark for marine operation vessels and recreational activity boats.
