Pengbay Bridge Introduction
Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area’s circular road features the Dapeng Bay Bridge at the bay’s mouth (beside the Qingzhou Recreation Area), completed and opened for traffic in March 2011. It is the first opening scenic bridge in Taiwan designed to accommodate the entry and exit of sailing boats. In the future, along with the construction of a BOT yacht harbor, it will allow large sailing vessels to enter and exit, developing international-level yacht and marine activities. This will further form a "Golden Triangle" for yachting activities in conjunction with the Kaohsiung Love River Tourist Wharf. The Dapeng Bay Cross-Sea Bridge is 579 meters long and 30 meters wide, with the main tower standing 71 meters above the water surface. The bridge height above the water reaches a maximum of 17 meters (with a water surface span of about 70 meters), and the opening span is 20 meters to accommodate various types of recreational vessels. Its design features a single-tower asymmetric cable-stayed bridge with a unique three-dimensional design (unlike conventional two-dimensional bridge shapes). From a frontal view, it resembles a mythical bird carrying something; from the side, it appears as a bending girl; and from the rear, it resembles the English letter "A." The movable bridge surface can open to a 75-degree angle in just two minutes. Additionally, every Saturday at 5 PM, there is a bridge-opening show for viewing. At night, with lighting, it not only offers beautiful scenic imagery but also serves as a landmark for maritime operational vessels and recreational activity boats.
