Penghu Cross-Sea Bridge Introduction
Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area's Dapeng Bay Bridge, located at the estuary of Dapeng Bay (next to the Qingzhou Recreation Area), was completed and opened for traffic in March 2011. It is the first opening scenic bridge in the country designed to accommodate the entry and exit of sailboats. Future plans include the development of a BOT yacht port to allow large sailboats to enter and exit, fostering international-level yacht and marine yacht activities. This will further form a "golden triangle" of yacht activities together with the Kaohsiung Love River scenic dock. The Dapeng Bay Bridge has a total length of 579 meters and a width of 30 meters, with a main tower height of 71 meters above the water surface. The bridge stands 17 meters above the water at its highest point (with a water surface span of about 70 meters), and it has an opening span of 20 meters to accommodate various types of recreational vessels. Its design features an asymmetrical single-tower, single-sided cable-stayed structure, which is distinctively three-dimensional (unlike typical two-dimensional bridge designs). Viewed from the front, it resembles a mythical bird carrying an object; from the side, it looks like a bending girl; from the back, it resembles the letter "A." The movable bridge deck can open to a 75-degree angle in just two minutes, and there is a bridge opening show every Saturday at 5 PM. At night, with lighting, it not only offers a beautiful visual experience but also serves as a landmark for marine operational vessels and recreational activity boats.
