Pengwan Cross-Sea Bridge Introduction
Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area's Dapeng Bay Arch Bridge, located at the mouth of the Dapeng Bay area (next to the Qingzhou Recreational Area), was completed and opened to traffic in March 2011. It is the first openable scenic bridge in the country designed to accommodate the passage of sailboats. In the future, along with the construction of a BOT yacht harbor, it will allow for large sailboats to enter and exit, promoting international-level yacht and watercraft activities. This will further create a "Golden Triangle" of yacht activities in conjunction with the Kaohsiung Love River sightseeing pier. The Dapeng Bay Cross-Sea Bridge has a total length of 579 meters and a width of 30 meters, with the main tower standing 71 meters above the water. The bridge's maximum height above the water reaches 17 meters (with a water span of approximately 70 meters), and when opened, the span reaches 20 meters to accommodate various types of recreational vessels. Its design features a single-tower asymmetrical cantilevered cable-stayed bridge with a unique three-dimensional design (different from typical two-dimensional bridge shapes), resembling a bird carrying something when viewed from the front, a bending girl from the side, and the English letter "A" from the back. The movable bridge surface can be opened to a 75-degree angle in just 2 minutes, and there is a bridge-opening show every Saturday afternoon at 5 PM. At night, it is complemented with lighting, creating an aesthetically pleasing visual while also serving as a landmark for marine operational vessels and recreational activity boats.
