Jiupeng Desert Introduction
The Coastal Highway leads to Jiupeng, which is primarily characterized by its sandy dunes. To reach Gangzi, one must transfer to Provincial Highway 200. On the hills by the coast, a vast area of over 200 hectares of sand dunes can be seen, locally referred to as "Taiwan's largest desert - Jiupeng Desert." The Jiupeng River carries a large amount of river sand, which, near the mouth of the river, is piled up on both sides after being transported back and forth by waves and currents. During low tide, strong winds blow the sand onto higher ground, creating dune formations reminiscent of a desert landscape. On clear days, many visitors enjoy lying on the dunes gazing at the beautiful view of the moon rising from the sea, and walking on the dunes in the evening offers a unique charm.
