Static Crocodile Introduction
Under the beautiful sky, the dreamlike奇岩 (strange rock) is located on the western shore of Qing Shui Ao, in the West of Xiyin. From a distance, it resembles a giant crocodile, lifelike with a mouth, feet, and even faintly discernible claws, lying quietly and seemingly ready to venture into the sea! Therefore, locals call it “Crocodile Island,” also known as “Lying Crocodile.” There is a local legend that in the past, a fierce crocodile followed the fish upstream into Qing Shui Ao, often causing trouble for fishermen. They could not withstand its disturbance, and fortunately, the Jade Emperor intervened and subdued the crocodile, allowing its spirit to return to the western shore of Qing Shui Ao, resulting in the present appearance of Crocodile Island. The Unbeatable Sea View Area of Dongyin - San Shan Base is located at the far left end of the Lying Crocodile. This site serves as an important stronghold guarding the western sea of Dongyin and boasts excellent visibility, providing a panoramic view of the surrounding waters. The origin of San Shan Base stems from military needs in earlier years, where the easternmost point known as Shiwai Mountain, where Dong Chong Lighthouse is located, was designated as “No. 1 High Ground.” Counting westward to the highest point on Xiyin Island, marked as “No. 33 High Ground,” it is the westernmost stronghold in Dongyin defense zone. Due to a military marking error, it is now known as “San Shan Base.” Currently, it is open to the public, and on clear days, one can view Liang Island, the North and South Poles, or coastal islands of the mainland from this location!
