國之北疆

Standing at the northernmost point of Taiwan, many people know that the southernmost territory of the Republic of China reaches the Spratly Islands' Tzengmu Ansha, but perhaps they are unaware that the northernmost boundary is in Dongyin, Matsu. By heading northwest from the Qingshui Ao control post along the road, climbing over hills and going straight to the end, you reach the northern border of the Republic of China. However, the true northernmost point of Taiwan is actually a small reef located offshore of Luohanping Cape! This reef, also known as "Beigu Reef," is situated about 600 meters above Back Ao in Xiyin. Currently, the reef is uninhabited and may sometimes be submerged or revealed with the ebb and flow of the tides. To commemorate this northern border and allow visitors to catch a glimpse of it, the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration has established a viewing platform at Back Ao Cape, erecting a sign that reads "National Northern Border," providing tourists with a spot for photos. Even if they don't see Beigu Reef, they can still prove they have been to the "northernmost boundary of the nation."

The North Border of the Nation Introduction

Standing at the northernmost point of Taiwan, many people know that the southernmost point of the Republic of China reaches the Spratly Islands at Zengmu Ansha, but they might not know that the northernmost point of the border is located at Dongyin, Matsu. If you head northwest from the Qing Shui Ao control station along the road, climb over the hills, and go all the way to the end, you will reach the northern border of the Republic of China. However, the true northernmost tip of Taiwan is actually a small reef located off the coast of Luohan Ping Cape! This reef, also known as Beigu Reef, is situated about 600 meters above the rear bay of Xiyin. Currently, the reef is uninhabited and may sometimes be submerged or appear depending on the tides. To commemorate this northern border and to allow tourists a glimpse of this site, the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration has built a viewing platform at the rear bay cape and erected a stone tablet that reads "National Northern Territory," providing visitors with a photo opportunity to prove they have visited the "north of the border," even if they did not see Beigu Reef.
