國之北疆

Standing at the northernmost point of Taiwan, many people know that the southernmost point of the Republic of China is the Tzengmu Ansha in the Spratly Islands, but few may be aware that the northernmost point is located in Dongyin, Matsu. Heading northwest from the Qing Shui Ao control station along the road, climbing over the hills leads you to the northern border of the Republic of China. However, the true northernmost point of Taiwan is actually a small reef situated offshore of Luohanping Cape! This reef, also known as Beigu Reef, is located about 600 meters above the rear bay of Xiyin and is currently uninhabited. It appears and disappears with the tides. To commemorate the northern border of the country and allow visitors to witness its beauty, the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration has built a viewing platform at the Cape of Rear Bay and erected a stone monument inscribed with the words "National Northern Border", providing tourists with a photo opportunity to prove they have visited the "north of the national border," even if they didn’t see Beigu Reef.

North Border of the Country Introduction

Standing at the northernmost point of Taiwan, many people are aware that the southernmost boundary of the Republic of China extends to the Spratly Islands' Zengmu Ansha, but few may know that the northernmost boundary is located at Dongyin in Matsu. By proceeding northwest along the road from the Qing Shui Ao control post and climbing over the hill, you will reach the northern frontier of the Republic of China. However, the true northernmost point of Taiwan is actually a small reef located off the coast of Luohanping Cape! This reef, also known as Beigu Reef, is situated about 600 meters above Hou Ao in Xiyin. Currently, the reef is uninhabited and can sometimes be submerged or revealed depending on the tide. To commemorate this northern boundary and provide tourists with a view, the Matsu National Park Administration has built a viewing platform at Hou Ao Cape and erected a stone plaque inscribed with "National North Boundary," allowing visitors to take photos as a memento, even if they don't see Beigu Reef, proving they have visited the "top of the nation."
