Zhongzhubiao Island Introduction
The important causeway connecting Dongyin and Xiyin Originally, Dongyin was not an island but was formed by two independent islands, Dongyin and Xiyin. In the past, there was a reef between the two islands known as Zhongzhu Island, which became an isolated rock island in the sea during high tide, located about 200 meters from Xiyin. Before the causeway connecting the two islands was constructed, during low tide, one could walk from Dongyin to Xiyin by crossing Zhongzhu Island. In 1975, the military used blasting stones from the construction of Zhongzhu Harbor to build the Zhongzhu Causeway. They first constructed the Chiang Kai-shek Bridge connecting Dongyin and Zhongzhu, and then completed the road leading to Xiyin, thus connecting Dongyin and Xiyin and making transportation more convenient. Today, it is more accurately described as the "Zhongzhu Causeway." Zhongzhu Island features a stone carving called "Zhongliu Duzhu," and in the middle of the road, there is a Guanyin Pavilion elevated above the pavement. From a distance, you can still see a statue of Chiang Ching-kuo sitting inside the pavilion, which is the main landmark for those heading to Dongyin. Walking along this straight avenue, one can admire the sunset glow over the sea of Zhongzhu Harbor during dusk, enjoying a tranquil and beautiful time as the sun sinks into the ocean.
