Zhongzhou Island Introduction
The important causeway connecting East and West Jin Originally, Dongyin was not an island, but composed of two independent islands: Dongyin and Xiyin. In the past, there was a reef between the two islands called Zhongzhu Island, which was an isolated reef island during high tide, located about 200 meters from Xiyin. Before the causeway connecting the two islands was built, during low tide, one could walk from Dongyin across Zhongzhu Island to Xiyin. In 1975, the military used the blasted rubble from the construction of Zhongzhu Port to build Zhongzhu Causeway, first constructing a bridge connecting Dongyin to Zhongzhu, and then completing the road to Xiyin, thus connecting Dongyin and Xiyin for more convenient transportation. Now it is more accurately described as the "Zhongzhu Causeway." On Zhongzhu Island, there is a stone carving called "Zhongliudizhu," and in the middle of the road, there is a gratitude pavilion that stands higher than the road surface. Passing by, one can see the statue of Chiang Ching-kuo sitting inside the pavilion from a distance, which is a major landmark for those heading to Dongyin. Walking along this straight avenue, one can enjoy the sunset glow over the sea at Zhongzhu Port, watching the sun sink into the sea, and savoring a tranquil and beautiful moment.
