Lotus Pond Research Center Introduction
Established on April 23, 1918, originally named "Medicinal Plant Cultivation Experimental Site," located in Wucheng Village, Yuchi Township, Nantou County. In 2002, it was renamed the "Lianhuachi Research Center" of the Forestry Research Institute, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan. Due to its rich biodiversity, the current investigation of flora and fauna in the park includes 177 families, 561 genera, and 879 species of higher plants, of which 589 are native species and 290 are introduced species. There are 78 species of wild birds. Additionally, 131 species of butterflies, 24 species of frogs, 10 species of lizards, 11 species of reptiles, and 20 species of mammals have been surveyed. From April to May each year, this place is also a great spot for firefly viewing.
