Liao Mayor Black Tea--Rich and Fragrant | Yuchi Black Tea--[Yuchi Black Tea] is located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, and its black tea industry began to develop during the Japanese colonial period. In 1925, the Japanese introduced seeds of the Assam black tea tree from India for trial planting in the Yuchi Township area. Due to the significant temperature difference between day and night, the fog in the mornings and evenings, and the acidic red brick soil, the geographical conditions are remarkably similar to the original growing areas of Assam black tea, resulting in considerable success. Consequently, the Governor-General’s Office of Taiwan established the Yuchi Black Tea Experimental Station in 1936 in Yuchi as a research center for the introduction and promotion of Assam black tea. This laid the foundation for the development of the black tea industry in Yuchi Township. The [Black Tea Story Museum], newly completed in 2012, showcases an exterior filled with classical European elegance, while the interior combines nostalgia with modern aesthetics, offering surprises at every turn.
