Liao Mayor Black Tea - Rich and Fragrant | Yuchi Black Tea - [Yuchi Black Tea] is located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, and its black tea industry has been developing since the Japanese colonial period. In 1925, Japanese introduced the Assam black tea seeds from India for trial planting in the Yuchi area. Due to the significant temperature difference between day and night, frequent fog in the morning and evening, and the acidic brick-red soil, the geographic conditions closely resemble those of the original cultivation areas of Assam black tea, which led to successful results. Consequently, the Taiwan Governor-General's Office, which governed Taiwan at the time, established the "Yuchi Black Tea Experiment Station" in Yuchi in 1936 as a research center for introducing and promoting Assam black tea. This laid the foundation for the development of the black tea industry in Yuchi Township. The "Liao Mayor Black Tea Story Museum," completed in 2012, features a classic European style exterior, while the interior blends nostalgia with modernity, leaving visitors in awe.
