Liao Mayor Black Tea - Rich and Fragrant | Yuchi Black Tea - [Yuchi Black Tea] is located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, where the black tea industry began to develop during the Japanese colonial period. In 1925, the Japanese introduced Assam black tea seeds from India to experiment in the Yuchi Township area. Due to the significant temperature difference between day and night, frequent fog, and the acidic brick-red soil, the geographical conditions closely resembled that of the original Assam black tea cultivation area, leading to a successful outcome. Consequently, the Governor-General of Taiwan established the "Yuchi Black Tea Experimental Station" in 1936 in Yuchi to serve as a research center for introducing and promoting Assam black tea. This established the foundation for the development of the black tea industry in Yuchi Township. The "Liao Mayor Black Tea Story Museum," completed in 2012, features an exterior filled with European classical elegance, while the interior blends nostalgia and modernity, leaving visitors in awe.
