Dajiu Waterfall Introduction
The entrance to Daqiu Waterfall is located in Xinfeng Village, Gaoshu Township, along County Road 185, approximately 2 kilometers from the mountainside highway. It is also known as "Awu Waterfall," "Weiliao Waterfall," or "Xinfeng Waterfall." The waterfall comprises five tiers, with the first two tiers being more accessible to the public, featuring well-established trails. The dense tree cover acts like a natural umbrella, often attracting many visitors. The waterfall is about 20 meters high and cascades at a 90-degree angle, flowing down from the cliff like a white silk curtain. Although the valley is not large, the thick shade creates a powerful ambiance with the sound of water. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Pingtung's lush greenery from the observation pavilion, making it a must-see spot. It is recommended to spend about an hour there; excluding rest time, it takes approximately 20-30 minutes of walking to reach the waterfall. The third, fourth, and fifth tiers of the waterfall are located deep in the forest and are harder to access, with fewer human footprints and a potential presence of snakes and insects. It's best to have complete gear if you intend to visit them and to keep safety in mind.
