Dajiu Waterfall Introduction
The entrance to Dajing Waterfall is located in Xinfeng Village, Gaoshu Township, next to County Road 185 along the mountain highway at the 2k mark. It is commonly known as "Awu Waterfall," "Weiliao Waterfall," or "Xinfeng Waterfall." The waterfall has five tiers, with the first and second tiers being more accessible, featuring well-established trails. The dense shade acts like a natural umbrella, attracting many visitors. The waterfall is approximately 20 meters high and cascades down at a 90-degree angle, resembling white silk hanging from the cliff. Although the valley is not large, the thick foliage creates an atmosphere filled with the powerful sound of flowing water, and climbing to the pavilion for a distant view of Pingtung’s lush fields is a must-see for visitors. It is recommended to spend about an hour there; excluding rest time, it takes about 20-30 minutes of walking to reach the waterfall. As the third, fourth, and fifth tiers of the waterfall are located deep within the forest, they are less accessible and rarely visited, with potential snake and insect encounters. It is advisable to have proper equipment and stay mindful of personal safety when attempting to visit.
