Hsiao Wu-long Tziou Ceramic Introduction
Jiaozi pottery combines techniques such as modeling, painting, and kiln firing, making it one of the most valued folk crafts in Taiwan's traditional arts. Jiaozi pottery is widely used in the decoration of general buildings and temples due to its rich shapes, vibrant colors, and a sense of auspicious joy. The Chiayi area is the birthplace of Jiaozi pottery in Taiwan, which Japanese people once referred to as "Chiayi kiln." Mr. Hsiao Wu-lung, born in Chiayi City in 1948, was inspired by master carver Luo Yong-yu and studied this nearly lost ancient art under him in 1980. In 1993, he established the Hsiao Wu-lung Jiaozi Pottery Studio, and Mr. Hsiao is one of the few experts in millet carving in the country. His works have received honors such as the Excellence Award in the Crafts Category at the 47th Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition and a third-place award in the Ethnic Crafts Carving Category at the 4th National Crafts Competition. Today, his works are recognized and loved by experts both domestically and internationally.
