Shangyi Eco-Park Introduction
The Wind Lion God is the representative sacred beast of Kinmen. When you arrive in Kinmen by plane, the first thing you will see is a large Wind Lion God standing on a hill, which is located at the Kinmen County Environmental Park. The park was originally a deserted magnetite mining area that, in 1995, received funding from the Environmental Protection Administration to be restored as an ecological park. The total area of the park covers 23.92 hectares, which includes a visitor center, a zone with 64 Wind Lion Gods around the island lake, a large Wind Lion God, and landscaped planting. In 2005, the Environmental Protection Bureau relocated to the park, and through everyone's efforts, the Environmental Park became green and vibrant. Within the park, there is a lake where wading birds, especially herons, can often be seen foraging. In the middle of the lake, an island shaped like Kinmen Island has been designed, where replicas of all 64 Wind Lion Gods from various townships on Kinmen are displayed in their original sizes, allowing you to enjoy the Wind Lion Gods from different villages all at once. Notably, each Wind Lion God has a unique shape, size, expression, and the items it holds, with the Wind Lion God from Anqi being the tallest at 378 cm, making it worth your close attention. Additionally, there is a Wind Lion God in the park, approximately 15 meters tall, holding a seal and a command flag, which was established at the beginning of the park's construction. The park also features accessible restrooms, ramps, and parking spaces.
