Shangyi Eco-Park Introduction
The Wind Lion God is the representative sacred beast of Kinmen. Upon arriving in Kinmen by plane, the first sight you will see is a large Wind Lion God standing on a high ground, which is located at the Kinmen County Environmental Park. The Environmental Park was originally an abandoned magnetic clay mining area, and in 1995, efforts were made to obtain funding from the Environmental Protection Administration to restore it as an environmental park. The entire area covers 23.92 hectares, including: an interpretation center, a zone with 64 Wind Lion Gods by the Island Lake, a large Wind Lion God, and landscaped greenery. In 2005, the Environmental Protection Bureau moved in, and through collective efforts, the park has become lush and vibrant. Inside the Environmental Park, there is a lake where herons can often be seen flying and foraging in the wetlands. In the center of the lake, an island designed in the shape of Kinmen Island features all 64 Wind Lion Gods from the various townships of Kinmen, displayed in their original sizes at their respective locations on Kinmen Island, allowing you to appreciate the Wind Lion Gods from all the villages at once. Notably, each Wind Lion God has a unique shape, size, expression, and the magical item it holds. Among them, the Wind Lion God from Anqi stands the tallest at 378 centimeters, which is worth admiring closely. Additionally, there is a Wind Lion God about 15 meters tall holding a seal and a flag, which was established at the beginning of the park's construction. The park is equipped with accessible facilities including accessible restrooms, ramps, and parking spaces.
