Chenggong Tunnel/Chenggong Beach Introduction

The Chengkung Tunnel, carved from granite, is located in front of the popular attraction Chen Jing-lan Western-style House. It combines the functions of a coastal tunnel and a civil defense tunnel. Compared to other tunnels in Kinmen, the Chengkung Tunnel is smaller in scale but is equipped with a command post, anti-aircraft gun positions, machine gun bunkers, bedrooms, and kitchens, which were crucial during wartime. Currently, many life-sized figures are set up to simulate past defense scenes, and an M-41 tank is stationed at the tank bunker for close interaction. The 560-meter-long tunnel is divided into two sections with Zhongxing Pavilion as the boundary point; the seaside section is controlled by the military, responsible for monitoring the situation in Liao Luo Bay, while the other end connects to the Zhengyi Village Office, serving as a refuge for residents, fully embodying the atmosphere of military-civilian unity in Kinmen's history. Today, the Chengkung Tunnel and the beach have shed the somber air of wartime, with the blue sea transforming into one of the most popular swimming spots in Kinmen during summer! The "Blue Tears" phenomenon occurs annually from April to June due to changes in wind direction and temperature, frequently creating beautiful sights in Kinmen's waters. Chengkung Beach is a favorable location for viewing "Blue Tears" because of its accessibility and safety. ◆Tips for Observing Blue Tears◆ ◼️ Season: Early spring to early summer from April to early June each year (during this time it is fog season; be sure to pay attention to flight status). ◼️ Time: Three days around the first day of the lunar month (when moonlight is weak), one or two hours before high tide. ◼️ Wind Direction: South wind. ◼️ Recommended Gear: Shoes with anti-slip features, and you may bring a flashlight or headlamp (for finding your way; please turn off the light when observing "Blue Tears"). ◼️ Photography Tips: Use a professional camera and a tripod, set the ISO to 800-1,000, aperture at 2.8, white balance above 3,000K, and exposure for 30 seconds.
