Chenggong Tunnel / Chenggong Beach Introduction
The Success Tunnel, carved from granite, is located in front of the popular attraction, Chen Jinglan Western-style House. It combines two functions: a coastal tunnel and a civil defense shelter. Compared to other tunnels in Kinmen, the Success Tunnel is smaller in scale but is equipped with a command center, anti-aircraft gun positions, machine gun bunkers, sleeping quarters, and a kitchen, playing a significant role during wartime. Currently, many mannequins have been set up to simulate past defensive scenes, and an M-41 tank is displayed for close interaction. The tunnel, which is 560 meters long, is divided by the Zhongxing Pavilion at both ends. The seaward section is controlled by the military, responsible for monitoring the situation in the Liaoluo Bay area, while the other end connects to the Zhengyi Village Office, serving as a refuge space for residents, embodying the atmosphere of the past military-civilian harmony in Kinmen. Today, the Success Tunnel and beach have shed their wartime grimness, with the blue sea becoming one of Kinmen's most popular summer water play locations! The "Blue Tears" phenomenon occurs in Kinmen's waters between April and June each year due to changes in wind direction and temperature. Success Beach, being easily accessible and safe, is an excellent spot to observe the "Blue Tears"! ◆Tips for Observing Blue Tears◆ ◼️Season: Every year from April to early June (this period is fog season, so be mindful of flight conditions). ◼️Time: Around three days before and after the first day of the lunar month (when moonlight is weak), 1-2 hours before high tide. ◼️Wind direction: South wind. ◼️Recommended gear: Shoes with anti-slip functions; you may also bring a flashlight or headlamp (for navigation, please turn off the light when observing the Blue Tears). ◼️Photography tips: Use a professional camera and tripod, set the ISO to 800-1,000, aperture at 2.8, and white balance above 3,000K, with an exposure of 30 seconds.
