Tung Yih Snack Introduction
In the Penghu area, Tuyin snacks are the most renowned. They originated from the Minnan flavors left over from the Ming Zheng period, combined with Japanese cuisine from the Japanese colonial era. After 1949, a large number of immigrants from various provinces in China came to Taiwan, bringing their hometown flavors with them. These traditional tastes interacted with Taiwan's existing food culture, resulting in the fusion of new and unique flavors. With the vigorous economic development, people became not only satisfied with just filling their stomachs but also pursued a variety of different culinary experiences. Therefore, Tuyin snacks are not merely fillers between meals but can instead be considered a type of main dish.
