Wei Xiang Fish Ball Shop (Xu Yi Fish Crisps) Introduction
On Tamsui Old Street, there are many shops selling fish crisp, among which Wei Xiang Fish Ball Shop is the original store of Tamsui fish crisp, and the fish crisp packaging is named after the owner, Hsu Yi. Tamsui fish crisp is famous throughout Taiwan, and its origin is quite interesting. It is said that the texture of fish crisp was not so crunchy in the past, but one time the owner Hsu Yi accidentally dropped it back into the deep fryer after frying, and it unexpectedly became popular among customers. In the past, local residents would eat it with rice porridge, while today's tourists enjoy it as a snack or with drinks. The method of making fish crisp involves grinding the bones and flesh of yellow croaker or shark, mixing it with sweet potato starch, and deep-frying it until crispy. After being packaged in plastic bags, it becomes the famous Tamsui delicacy "fish crisp."
