Weishiang Fish Ball Shop (Hsu Yi Fish Crisps) Introduction
On Tamsui Old Street, there are many shops selling fish snacks, among which Wei Xiang Fish Ball Shop is the founding old shop of Tamsui's fish snacks, and the packaging of the fish snacks is named after the owner, Hsu Yi. Tamsui's fish snacks are well-known throughout Taiwan, and the origin of this delicacy is quite interesting. It is said that in the past, the texture of the fish snacks was not so crispy, but one time, owner Hsu Yi accidentally dropped the fried snacks back into the oil pot, and to everyone's surprise, they became highly favored by customers. In the past, locals paired them with rice porridge, while today’s tourists enjoy them as a snack with drinks or as a casual treat. The method of making fish snacks involves crushing the bones and flesh of yellow croaker or shark, mixing it with sweet potato flour, and frying until crispy, and then sealing it in plastic bags, resulting in the famous Tamsui product "fish snacks."
