Youhe Book Introduction
Located along the banks of the Tamsui River, between the MRT station and the ferry terminal, it opened at the end of 2006. One of the owners is a poet and the other is a film critic, which gives the store a special focus on poetry and film literature; in particular, there is a dedicated area for rare books from the owners' private collection that are only on display and not for sale. The primary focus is on new books, with categories including literature, film, ecology, travel, and more. There is a café on-site, and it regularly hosts film screenings and discussions, new book launches, poetry readings, independent music performances, and various social issue forums, among others. This space preserves a bit of the voice of literature and poetry amidst the increasingly commercialized hustle and bustle of the riverside.
