Liang Ji Ice Shop on Anle Road is famous for its unique brown sugar ice blocks. Watching the owner take out a large block of ice quickly frozen, it is placed on the shaved ice machine, and in an instant, a plate of shaved ice drizzled with fragrant brown sugar is served. The texture of the shaved ice is different from the usual ice granules; the particles are not as coarse and do not need to be crushed, sitting between the delicateness of snow ice and the crispness of shaved ice. Since the ice block is made from brown sugar, the shaved ice also doesn't appear pure white, offering a subtle brown sugar aroma and finely textured ice when eaten.
