The baozi and mantou at Yong-An Baozi Restaurant are made using old sourdough, giving them a unique and delicious texture and density. They offer a variety of fillings including red bean bao, flower rolls, vegetable bao, and fresh milk mantou, with the rich and aromatic dough delighting customers. The skills of the first-generation owner, Mr. Lu, were passed down from an elderly gentleman from the provinces at the Nanmen Market in Taipei City. In addition to the restaurant's signature Shandong mantou and fresh milk mantou, the vegetable bao is a must-try delicacy. The skin of the vegetable bao is made from old sourdough, and the filling includes Qingjiang vegetables, bamboo shoots, and shiitake mushrooms, all steamed together, creating a distinctly Shanghai-style flavor that many long-time customers fondly remember as a taste of home.
