Chen Ji Mi Yue Rice Introduction
Located in the corner of the Ruifang First Market, Ruifang Chen's Milky Rice has a history of nearly 30 years and is a well-known brand of oil rice in the area. Driving across the Ruifang Bridge towards Ruibin, you can still see a small sign for Milky Rice at the bridge’s entrance. The star of the small stall is the super popular oil rice, which is soft and chewy without being greasy, and even when cooled, it becomes more flavorful with each bite. The owner, Chen Ming, selects glutinous rice from Central Taiwan and uses traditional methods to steam it with a rice steamer, then stir-fries it with shallots, Wan-Jia-Xiang soy sauce, and other seasonings. Each mouthful is a delightful surprise. While most oil rice hardens when cold, Chen's oil rice is unique; it becomes even more palatable as you eat it. By spending a bit more on ingredients, they ensure customer satisfaction. The oil rice is drizzled with a mushroom braising sauce cooked over charcoal by the owner, which reduces oiliness while adding a smoky flavor – no wonder the place is bustling with customers every day. The shop also offers delicious meat thick soup and squid thick soup, served with noodles, rice vermicelli, or flat noodles, bringing deliciousness to the table.
