Located in the corner of Ruifang First Market, Ruifang Chen's Muye Oil Rice has a history of nearly 30 years and is well-known for its oil rice. If you drive along the Ruifang Bridge towards Ruibin, you can spot a small sign for Muye Oil Rice right at the start of the bridge. The popular food from this small stall features rice that is soft and chewy without being greasy, and even when cooled, it remains fragrant with every bite. The owner, Chen Ming, selects high-quality long glutinous rice from central Taiwan and uses traditional methods to steam it slowly in a bamboo steamer. He then mixes it with shallots, Wanjiaxiang soy sauce, and seasonings, creating an astonishing flavor in every mouthful. Unlike typical oil rice that hardens when cold, Chen's oil rice remains smooth and palatable, as he invests more in ingredients to ensure customer satisfaction. The rice is topped with a savory mushroom sauce that the owner simmers over charcoal, adding a unique grilled aroma while reducing oiliness. It's no wonder that customers flock there every day. The shop also serves delicious meat thick soup and squid thick soup, which can be paired with noodles, rice noodles, or flat rice noodles to complete a delightful meal.
