Yang Ge Yang Sao Rice Dumpling Shop Introduction

Yang Ge and Yang Sao, who have been in business for 40 years (since 1970), can be said to be the only traditional zongzi shop in Tainan City that operates in a diversified manner. Not only do they maintain the original flavor of their traditional zongzi and meat dumplings, but they have also developed new flavors such as purple rice zongzi, multi-grain zongzi, and mung bean zongzi. They even offer a mini version of their special zongzi, which is small and cute, filled with substantial ingredients, selling for ten NT dollars each, often in high demand. Yang Ge and Yang Sao's zongzi focus on texture; the second-generation owner, Mr. Yang Youzhong, said he uses fresh lean meat for marinating, which provides a better chewiness without being too tough. The fatty meat is stir-fried with shiitake mushrooms a day in advance, giving the zongzi two different textures and a rich aroma.
