The Sihcao Green Tunnel refers to the mangrove area of the drainage canal behind the Sihcao Grand Temple. This waterway, lined with native mangroves over 50 years old on both sides, naturally forms a curve resembling a tunnel, earning it the nickname "mini Amazon Forest." It is also the only green waterway in Taiwan. The navigation routes through the Sihcao Green Tunnel are divided into two: the Mangrove Tunnel and the Sihcao Taijiang Tour. Before boarding the bamboo raft, each passenger is required to wear a life jacket and receive a hat for sun protection. Once prepared, they can embark on the bamboo raft and begin this green tunnel adventure! Birds such as egrets and night herons occasionally fly low along the sides of the tunnel. The mangrove ecosystem in the Sihcao Grand Temple's mangrove conservation area is beautiful, featuring four types of mangrove trees: Avicennia alba, Acanthus ilicifolius, Kandelia obovata, and Hibiscus tiliaceus. The onboard interpreter also provides detailed explanations about the local ecology, and visitors can use binoculars to observe creatures like fiddler crabs and mudskippers beneath the mangroves, making it an ideal site for eco-tourism and a favorite spot for photographers to capture natural beauty.

Sicao Green Tunnel Introduction

Sicao Green Tunnel refers to the mangrove area of the drainage ditch behind Sicao Dajong Temple. This river channel naturally forms a tunnel-like appearance because of the native mangrove forests over 50 years old on both sides, earning it the nickname "mini Amazon rainforest." It is also the only waterway green tunnel in Taiwan. The navigation route of Sicao Green Tunnel is divided into two parts: the mangrove tunnel and the Sicao Taijiang tour. Before getting on the bamboo raft, each passenger is required to wear a life jacket and receive a wide-brimmed hat to protect against the sun and head. Once prepared, passengers can board the bamboo raft and begin this green tunnel adventure! Along the tunnel, herons, night herons, and other birds occasionally fly low overhead. The mangrove forests in the Sicao Dajong Temple Mangrove Conservation Area are beautiful and feature four types of mangroves: Avicennia marina, Aegiceras corniculatum, Kandelia obovata, and Bruguiera gymnorhiza. The onboard guide will provide commentary on the local ecology, and visitors can also observe organisms such as fiddler crabs and mudskippers under the mangroves through telescopes, making it an ideal location for eco-tourism and a favorite spot for photographers to capture natural beauty.
