Sicao Green Tunnel Introduction
The Sihcao Green Tunnel refers to the mangrove area located behind the Sihcao Grand Temple, characterized by a drainage canal flanked by native mangroves over 50 years old. This river, with its naturally arching tunnel-like appearance, is often dubbed the "mini Amazon rainforest" and is also the only waterway green corridor in Taiwan. The navigation route of the Sihcao Green Tunnel is divided into two paths: the Mangrove Tunnel and the Sihcao Taijiang Tour. Before boarding the bamboo raft, each passenger is required to wear a life jacket and receive a hat for sun protection. Once prepared, they can board the raft and embark on this green tunnel adventure! Along the tunnel, herons, night herons, and other birds can often be seen flying low. The Sihcao Grand Temple Mangrove Conservation Area boasts beautiful forest scenery, featuring four types of mangroves: five-leaf mangrove, water celery, olive, and Kandelia obovata. The on-board narrator will also provide insights into the local ecology during the trip, and visitors can use telescopes to observe various organisms like fiddler crabs and mudskippers under the mangrove canopies, making it an excellent venue for ecotourism and a favorite spot for photographers to capture natural beauty.
