Sicao Green Tunnel Introduction
The Sihcao Green Tunnel refers to the mangrove area located behind the Sihcao Public Temple along the drainage canal. This waterway features native mangroves that are over 50 years old on both sides, naturally forming a bend that resembles a tunnel, often referred to as a "mini version of the Amazon rainforest." It is also the only green waterway in Taiwan. The navigation route of the Sihcao Green Tunnel is divided into two: the Mangrove Tunnel and the Sihcao Taijiang Tour. Before boarding the bamboo raft, every passenger is required to wear a life jacket and receive a sun hat for head protection. Once prepared, they can embark on the bamboo raft and start this green tunnel adventure! Along the tunnel, herons, night herons, and other birds occasionally fly low. The Sihcao Public Temple Mangrove Protection Area boasts a beautiful forest composition, featuring four types of mangroves: five-leaved crape myrtle, water caltrop, olive, and sea poison tree. The onboard guide will explain the local ecology along the way, and visitors can also use telescopes to observe creatures like fiddler crabs and mudskippers beneath the mangroves, making it an ideal spot for ecotourism and a favorite location for photographers to capture natural beauty.
