Sihcao Fort Introduction
During the Daoguang era, the First Opium War occurred between China and Britain. To prevent British forces from entering Taiwan, the then Taiwan military governor Yao Ying proposed the construction of 17 fortifications in Anping and the Tainan area, with the Sicao Fort being one of them. The Sicao Fort is designated as a national second-class historical site, and although the ancient cannons are no longer present, the fort's wall remains, featuring 13 circular gun holes. This wall has become the perimeter of the nearby Tainan City Zhenhai Elementary School. The Sicao Fort is located in front of the Sicao Temple, and nearby is the famous Sicao Green Tunnel, where visitors can enjoy a scenic bamboo raft ride through the waterways and experience the beautiful natural ecology.
