Jinfu Dawan Peanut Candy - Chihkan Store Introduction
Dawan Peanut Candy has a history of over a hundred years, emphasizing pure handmade production that has been passed down for four generations. The fourth-generation heir, Zheng Wansheng, has taken over and established the Chikan flagship store in front of the Chihkan Tower, a first-class historic site in Tainan City. The store retains traditional flavors while enhancing the quality and hygiene of the store environment, evolving the packaging to extend the tasting period. Upholding four generations of craftsmanship, they insist on producing fresh daily, cutting and selling on the spot. Fresh peanuts are used, combined with low-sugar maltose and selected granulated sugar, cooked over wooden fire for more than an hour. The process requires constant manual stirring to avoid burning, resulting in a peanut candy that has a more delicate and fine texture compared to machine-made versions, and it is less sticky to the teeth.
