Mountain Dining Hall Introduction
The Mountain Dining Hall has carefully designed about seven types of specialty bento boxes for travelers to choose from, including crispy fried pork ribs, osmanthus tea braised chicken thighs, soft braised pork, stir-fried mountain pork, bamboo shoots stewed with braised pork, bitter sesame oil chicken, and vegetarian options. The owner aims for "zero distance from farm to table," sourcing all bento ingredients from seasonal local produce. For example, one of the signature bento boxes, bamboo shoots stewed with braised pork, uses bamboo shoots grown in Fenqihu; the side dishes are all freshly harvested Alishan highland vegetables that day, such as dragon whiskers in summer and autumn, and cabbage and broad beans in spring and winter, making them exceptionally crunchy and sweet. Another signature dish is the osmanthus braised chicken thigh bento, which has a refreshing flavor and a generous portion of chicken thigh. Of course, the crispy fried pork ribs bento is also quite popular; although fried pork ribs are found throughout Taiwan, this particular one has the nostalgic taste of the Alishan small train, along with side dishes that are equally well-considered, including bamboo shoots, plums, vegetables, dried tofu, and pickled cabbage... providing a balanced nutrition, with ribs braised to a fragrant perfection, making the entire bento a feast for the senses. The soft braised pork bento is also a personal recommendation that you must try! The preparation of soft braised pork is passed down from Grandma Li Ping's unique secret recipe and skills; first deep-fried and then braised, it is extremely tender, making it easy to chew even for those with weak teeth; the marinated pork chop tastes salty and savory...
