Beimen A-Shan Oyster Omelette Introduction
Beimen "Ah Shan Master Oyster Omelette" was created by Ah Shan Master's daughter, Wu Li-Juan, and later flourished under Ah Shan Master's guidance. It is currently operated by siblings Wu Sen-Nan and Wu Li-Juan. The reason Wu Li-Juan started the stall was due to the popular "A-Xi Auntie's Oyster Omelette" in Beimen closing down as A-Xi Auntie aged, leaving the locals nostalgic. This inspired Wu Li-Juan to start her own stall. Her oyster omelette stall was located at the current "Ah Xuan Grouper Soup Shop" pavilion, operating daily. However, at that time, Beimen's tourism industry was not yet developed, and there were no tourists, leading to a very quiet business, prompting thoughts of closing the stall. Wu Wang-Ming-Shan, her mother, noticed that there were more tourists on weekends, so she took over the oyster omelette stall and moved it to the corner of Yonglong Temple, selling only on weekends. Due to her name containing the character "Shan," the villagers originally called her "Ah Shan-Zai," and later someone referred to her as "Ah Shan Master," unexpectedly turning it into her signature brand. After a period of difficult operation, just then, the Yunlin-Chiayi-Nantou National Scenic Area Administration established a presence in Beimen and vigorously promoted tourism there, transforming Beimen into a tourism hub in Taiwan.
