Checheng Winery Introduction

Checheng Winery is located in Checheng Village, Shuili Township, Nantou County, and officially opened on April 20, 2003. The main members are farmers focused on plum cultivation - the third class of fruit tree marketing from the Shui-li Township Farmers' Association. With technical assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture, traditional farming has been transformed into a more refined agricultural model. At the initial establishment of the winery, the original site faced severe damage from Typhoon Krosa in late July 2001, which devastated existing buildings, equipment, and products due to landslides. There were considerations to abandon the winery project. Ultimately, with the help of the Shui-li Township Farmers' Association, the investment share was expanded from just the third class members to all plum growers within Shui-li Township. This enabled the establishment of "Checheng Winery" in the Checheng community, renowned as the "Last Train Station" and "Secret Garden," allowing the continuation of the excellent flavors from the "Plum Home." The location is tranquil, beautiful, and safe, surrounded by mountains and forests. In front flows the continuously babbling Shui-li Creek, while behind are lush green mountains. To the left is the largest pumped storage hydroelectric power station in Asia, Mingtan Power Plant. To the right, one can overlook the Checheng Railway Station, known as the "Last Train Station," as well as the beautiful railway scenery. Other attractions, such as "Old Street, Sky Train, Timber Pond, Red-tile Houses, Ancient Buildings, Old Timber Factories, Coal-fired Train Water Towers, Checheng Elementary School," and the stunning "Beauty of Checheng," can be fully appreciated from the heights of "Checheng Winery B&B."
