Ke Ji Cantonese Porridge Introduction
Located next to the famous Qiuliangong Mother Filial Piety Arch, this restaurant has been in operation for over half a century and is one of the oldest Cantonese congee establishments in the Kinmen area. Every night, fresh congee is cooked slowly over a low flame until it becomes a thick consistency, offering a lighter taste compared to other restaurants. It is currently managed by the second generation. The congee is filled with slices of meat and minced meatballs, accompanied by pig liver and fish balls, and finished off with a sprinkle of pepper and chopped celery. Be sure to order the crispy deep-fried youtiao (fried dough sticks) and let them soak up the broth before eating—this is the authentic Kinmen way, and the flavor is truly exceptional. Additionally, the restaurant offers handmade scallion pancakes, as well as carefully simmered peanut soup and mung bean soup for selection.
