Keji Cantonese Porridge Introduction
Located next to the famous Qiu Liang Gong Mother's Filial Piety Archway, this restaurant has been in operation for over half a century and is one of the old Cantonese congee shops in the Kinmen area. Every evening, fresh congee is simmered slowly over low heat until it reaches a creamy consistency, with a taste that is milder compared to other shops. Now managed by the second generation, the congee features generous portions of sliced meat and meatballs, accompanied by pig liver and fish balls, finished off with a sprinkle of pepper and chopped celery. Don’t forget to order the crispy fried youtiao (dough sticks) and soak them in the congee before consuming, which is the authentic way to enjoy it in Kinmen. Additionally, the restaurant offers hand-made scallion pancakes and meticulously brewed peanut soup and mung bean soup.
