Ke Ji Cantonese Porridge Introduction
Located next to the famous Qiu Liang Gong Mother Filial Piety Arch, this restaurant has been in operation for more than half a century and is one of the old Cantonese congee shops in Kinmen. Every evening, fresh congee is simmered slowly over low heat until it reaches a creamy consistency, with a comparatively mild flavor than other shops. It is now run by the second generation. The congee is filled with slices of meat and minced meatballs, accompanied by pork liver and fish balls, topped with a sprinkle of pepper and chopped celery. Don't forget to order the crispy fried dough sticks; the local way to enjoy them is to let them soak up the broth before taking a bite, which is a unique Kinmen experience. Additionally, the restaurant offers handmade scallion pancakes and carefully prepared peanut soup and mung bean soup for selection.
