Qing Kinmen Town Military Command Office Introduction

The location of the Qing Generals' Office in Jinmen County was originally called "Congqingxuan," which is said to be the place where the Jinshi Xu Xie studied during the 31st year of the Wanli era (1601 AD). During the Kangxi period, General Chen Long considered that the old Jinmen City had experienced numerous military disasters in the late Ming period, and that the population of Hupu had flourished, thus relocating the General's Office here. After several renovations, it became the scale it is today. Until 1915, when Jinmen was established as a county, the General's Office remained the highest administrative center, experiencing transitions to Jinmen County office, Jinmen County government, administrative office, and Jinmen Defense Department, among others. It is now a classic tourist attraction in Jinmen and is designated as a historical site. Stepping into this four-sided courtyard-style building, time seems to flow back to the past. The Qing office is well-preserved, with the entrance hall, main hall, and internal offices recreated with wax figures that mimic past imagery. Each room contains detailed text descriptions. The towering kapok tree in the backyard is a must-see, over a hundred years old, and every spring, during late spring to early summer, it blooms with bright kapok flowers, attracting many photographers who come to capture its vibrant orange blossoms, enhancing the ambiance of the Generals' Office.
