Ching Kinmen Town Military Headquarters Introduction
The location of the Qingjinmen Town General’s Office was originally called "Congqing Residence." It is said to be the place where the scholar Xu Xie, who was an imperial scholar in the 29th year of the Ming Dynasty (AD 1601), studied. During the Kangxi period, General Chen Long considered the old Jinmen City had suffered many conflicts in the late Ming Dynasty, and as a result, the population of Hupu prospered. Therefore, the General’s Office was relocated here. After several renovations, it has become its current scale. Until 1915, when Jinmen was officially established as a county, the General's Office remained the highest administrative center, which has undergone several changes, including Jinmen County Office, Jinmen County Government, Administrative Office, and Jinmen Defense Department...etc. It is now a classic tourist attraction in Jinmen and one of the designated historical sites by the county. Stepping into this four-court, two-passage traditional courtyard building, time seems to flow back to the past. The Qing Yamen has been well-preserved, with the entrance, main hall, and internal offices recreated with wax figures to reflect the imagery of the past, with detailed textual explanations in each room. The towering ancient kapok tree in the backyard is a must-see. The tree is over a hundred years old and blooms with bright kapok flowers every spring, attracting many photography enthusiasts, adding a beautiful touch with its vivid orange flowers to the General’s Office.
