Qing Kinmen Town General's Office Introduction
The location of the Qi Jinmen Town General's Office was originally called "Congqing Pavilion," which is said to have been a place where the scholar Xu Xie, who passed the imperial examination in the 29th year of the Wanli era (1601), studied. During the Kangxi period, General Chen Long considered that the old Jinmen City had experienced many wars at the end of the Ming Dynasty, and since the population in Hupu had prospered, he decided to relocate the General's Office here. After several renovations, it has become the scale it is today. Until 1915, when Jinmen County was established, the General's Office remained the highest administrative center, going through the Jinmen County Office, Jinmen County Government, Executive Office, Jinmen Defense Department, and so on. It is now a classic tourist attraction in Jinmen and one of the designated historical sites in the county. Stepping into this quadrangle courtyard building with four entrances and two corridors, time seems to flow back to the past. The Qing dynasty government office is well-preserved. The entrance, main hall, and inner office have wax figures that recreate images of the past, with detailed textual descriptions in each room. The ancient kapok tree in the backyard is a must-see; its age exceeds several hundred years, and every spring and early summer, the tree blooms with vibrant kapok flowers, attracting many photographers who come to capture its striking orange flowers, adding to the ambiance of the General's Office.
