San Bao Zhai Introduction
San Bao Zhai Sesame Cake is located on Model Street, owned by Guo Wenli, who has been making sesame cakes for over 20 years. The shop, named "San Bao Zhai," has a rich local flavor that has been continuously improved over three generations. It is named after his three beloved daughters, with the shop name given by neighbor and pottery artist Wang Mingzong. The cakes are handmade, fresh, and delicious, with a sweet aroma and flaky texture. The main features are the quality ingredients, with egg wash brushed on the dough. The sesame cakes remain flaky even when cooled, and the entire production process is done by hand, baked over low heat. For the sweet flavor: it resembles a cross-section of a mille-feuille, extremely flaky, often resulting in crumbs falling off easily, with a solid texture and a malt aroma, filled with brown sugar, making it sweet and refreshing. For the savory flavor: it is made using pork leg meat and green onions with a unique recipe, catering to health needs by not adding any MSG. The meat filling has a good moisture level, appropriate saltiness, and texture that is worth tasting.
