San Bao Vegetarian Restaurant Introduction
San Bao Zhai Bakery is located on Model Street, run by owner Guo Wenli, who has been making shaobing for over 20 years. This local flavor has been passed down for three generations and continuously improved, leading to the name "San Bao Zhai," which means "Three Treasures Loft." The name was given by neighbor and ceramic artist Wang Mingzong, as Guo has three precious daughters. Made entirely by hand, these pastries are fresh and delicious, with a sweet aroma and a crispy-soft texture. The main features include high-quality ingredients, with the dough brushed with egg wash, ensuring that the shaobing remains crispy even when cooled. All production is done manually, with slow baking over low heat. For the sweet variety: it resembles the cross-section of a mille-feuille, truly crispy, and often, crumbs will fall easily, providing a substantial mouthfeel with a malty fragrance. Filled with brown sugar, it is very sweet and refreshing. For the savory variety: it uses pork leg meat and scallions, blended with a unique recipe, without adding flavor enhancers to meet health needs. The moisture, saltiness, and texture of the meat filling are worth trying.
