Tufu Old House Introduction
Banli Ancient House is located at the Banli Scenic Area Management Office. It is a descendant of Wang Shenzhi, the 10th son of the Min King, who built this house after moving to Banli Village during the Qing Dynasty's Tongzhi period. During the military rule period, the ancient house was requisitioned for military use. After the Nationalist Army's withdrawal, it was managed and renovated by the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration. The building materials were all sourced from the mainland and constructed in accordance with the traditional architectural style of eastern Fujian. Due to its meticulous construction techniques, the internal beams and columns are exquisitely carved. Additionally, there is a central courtyard inside, and the saddle-shaped side wall indicates it was a residence of the affluent, making it highly valuable in terms of preservation. Although the internal beams have suffered from multiple collapses and damage, the outer walls remain intact, and some valuable wooden walls and beam carvings are well-preserved. Therefore, after the local villagers' repeated advocacy, Banli Ancient House was confirmed in 2008 as part of the settlement preservation and reconstruction work promoted by the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration. The government is funding the project, and after renovation, the administration will have the right to use the ancient house for 20 years, combining it with the existing visitor service center to open more shops and exhibition spaces. Banli Ancient House will not only be revitalized but will also provide additional tourism resources for Banli.
