Baisha Harbor Introduction
Baisha Port, an important maritime gateway for Beigan, is located at the southern tip of Beigan Island in Matsu. It serves as a vital transportation hub between Matsu and Xiaosantong. Before the construction of the pier, the coast was covered with pristine white sand, hence the name "Baisha." After the completion of the Baisha Wharf in 1998, the clean white sandy beach transformed into a new maritime transportation portal for Beigan, with the addition of a harbor office and the establishment of the West Coast Highway to connect to Banli, enhancing land and sea transport convenience. With its azure seascape and continuous coastline, it has become an important port for both fishing and trading. Behind the harbor office, the Baisha settlement retains some old houses, stacked in a staircase-like manner on the hillside of Nun's Hill, showcasing the strong local character of a fishing village. Visitors can wander between the ancient houses, capturing scenic views in the alleyways and savoring the essence of time reflected in the winding paths. Let's start the journey in Beigan from here! The Ping Shui Zun Wang Temple, located by Baisha Wharf, is a rare large northern palace-style temple in Matsu. Although the temple appears small, it exudes a grand aura and is considered a landmark of Baisha Port, making it worth a visit! It is said that the original temple was built during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty and has undergone several dynastic changes, evolving from a simple structure to a magnificent temple, reflecting the residents' sincere faith. Even when those who have ventured out prosper, they still long to return home and leave their mark. Address: No. 41, Baisha Village, Beigan Township, Lienchiang County.
