Baisha Harbor is an important maritime entrance and exit for Beigan. Located at the southern tip of Beigan Island in Matsu, Baisha Harbor serves as a vital transportation hub between the islands of Matsu and the small three-links (Taiwan, Matsu, and China). Before the construction of the pier, the coastline was covered with fine, sparkling white sand, hence the name Baisha, which means "white sand." After the completion of the Baisha Pier in 1998, the pristine white sand beach transformed into Beigan's new gateway for maritime transport. A port office building was also constructed, along with the opening of the West Coastal Road that connects to Banli, facilitating better land and sea transportation. With beautiful blue sea views and a continuous coastline, it has become an important port for both fishing and commerce. Behind the port office, the Baisha settlement preserves some old houses that are stacked in layers on the hills of Nun's Mountain, showcasing a strong local character of a fishing village. Visitors can wander through the ancient houses and capture the beauty of alleys, savoring the essence of time that seeps through the winding paths. Let’s start the journey in Beigan from here!
