Baisha Port Introduction
Baisha Harbor, an important maritime gateway to the outside world for Beigan, is located at the southern end of Beigan Island in Matsu. It serves as a vital transportation hub between the islands and the Small Three Links (小三通). Before the harbor was established in 1998, the coastline was lined with crystal-clear white sand, which is how it got its name. Once the Baisha Pier was completed, the pristine white sand beach transformed into a brand new maritime traffic portal for Beigan, with the construction of the harbor office and the opening of the West Coast Road connecting to Banli, further facilitating land and sea transportation. Complemented by azure sea views and an extending coastline, it has become an important harbor for both fishing and trade. Behind the harbor office, the Baisha settlement retains some old houses, stacked in a stepped manner on the hills of Nunnery Mountain, showcasing the strong local character of a fishing village. Walking through the old houses and capturing the beautiful scenes of the alleys allows one to savor the passage of time that permeates the winding paths. Let’s start the journey in Beigan from here! Pingshui Zunwang Temple, with its grand palace-style architecture, is a rare large northern palace temple near Baisha Harbor. Although the temple appears small, its grandeur makes it a landmark of Baisha Harbor, definitely worth a visit! It is said that the original temple was established during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty and has undergone several dynastic changes, evolving from a simple structure to a magnificent temple, reflecting the devout faith of its residents. Even as their children prosper far from home, they still cherish their roots and the memories they've left behind. Address: No. 41, Baisha Village, Beigan Township, Lienchiang County.
