Baisha Port Introduction
Baisha Port, an important maritime entrance and exit for North Matsu, is located at the southern tip of Beigan Island. It serves as a vital transportation hub between Matsu Islands and the Small Three Links. Before the construction of the wharf, the coastline was covered with fine, crystalline white sand, hence the name Baisha. After the completion of the Baisha Wharf in 1998, the clean white sand beach transformed into a new maritime gateway for Beigan, with the addition of a port administration building and the establishment of the Western Coastal Road that connects to Banli, enhancing transportation options. With stunning blue sea views and a continuous coastline, it has become an important port for both fishermen and traders. Behind the port administration building, the Baisha settlement retains some old houses, stacked in a tiered manner on the hillside of Nigu Mountain. The quaint stone houses showcase a strong local fishing village character, and wandering through the ancient buildings allows one to capture the scenic beauty of the alleys, savoring the passage of time between the winding paths. This is the perfect starting point for your journey in Beigan! Pingshui Zunwang Temple, an impressive palace-style temple, is located next to Baisha Wharf. It is one of the few large northern palace-style temples in Matsu. Although the temple appears small externally, it exudes grandeur and is considered a landmark of Baisha Port, making it worth a visit! It is said that the original temple was built during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty and has gone through several dynastic changes, evolving from a simple structure to an ornate temple building, reflecting the devout faith of the residents. Even as successful wanderers prospered away from home, they still longed to return and leave behind their footsteps. Address: No. 41, Baisha Village, Beigan Township, Lienchiang County
