Beigan Visitor Center Introduction
Only three minutes by car from Baisha Harbor, you can find the Beigan Tourist Center located on Dajie in Banli Village. Upon entering the tourist center, you will find a wide array of travel brochures and information, providing various travel consultations, video screenings, and guided tour services, making it the first choice for tourists to gather information about Beigan. In addition to the service counter, the first floor also features a souvenirs shop and Beigan’s only duty-free store; if you’re tired, there is a café on the second floor, perfect for visitors to have a meal and take a break while enjoying the sea view, preparing for the next leg of their Matsu journey. Video screening times: 09:00-16:30, every half hour, with each session lasting about 11 minutes. Reviving Old Architecture: The Century-Old Banli Mansion If you want to experience the lifestyle of early Matsu residents, you must visit the “Banli Mansion” right across from the Beigan Tourist Center. Built using the herringbone and T-shaped construction methods, the house features an exterior of neatly arranged stone walls and an interior constructed from original wood, making it a mansion of its time! Now renovated, it retains the original old exterior, while the structural beams have been replaced with new ones. The right side of the mansion is open for visitors, while the left side serves as a guesthouse. Walking along the historically rich wooden corridors, you may occasionally hear the familiar creaking sound of the wooden floorboards, making it one of the must-experience aspects of Eastern Fujian architectural style.
