Tongxiao Shrine Introduction
Japan-era Ruins ~ A historically significant Japanese-style building. Located within Huto Mountain Park, the Tongxiao Shrine is heavily infused with Japanese shrine aesthetics. Built in 1937, it currently only retains the foundation of the main hall, the remains of the offering hall, the approach path, the worship hall, the torii gate, and the shrine office. Although the elevation of the mountain is less than 100 meters, the broad view overlooks the streets of Tongxiao, and the long pathway leading up is quite enchanting. The Tongxiao Shrine, located on Huto Mountain in Tongxiao, has experienced years of wear and tear, with its structure nearly reduced to ruins. Recently, it was restored by the Miaoli County Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the shrine's appearance has been almost completely restored to its original state, if not improved. Additionally, the town hall held a ceremony on June 19, 2005, titled "Miaoli County Historical Architecture - Reappearance of the New Appearance of Tongxiao Shrine," celebrating the occasion with a series of lively activities.
