Hutou Mountain Introduction
Originally named Tiger Island, it is located to the north of the urban area, facing south, and serves as a natural barrier against the northeast monsoon. With an elevation of about 93 meters, it is lush and green, resembling a fierce tiger rearing its head and howling. From the summit, one can enjoy a panoramic view of Tongxiao, where the sea meets the sky. In the past, "Tiger Island Tide Watching" was listed as Tongxiao's top scenic spot. Tiger Head Mountain features four historical sites: the Taiwan Restoration Memorial, ancient cannons, a shrine, and the Shou Temple. The ancient cannons are remnants from the Japanese colonial period and are said to have participated in the Russo-Japanese War; they were among the most advanced artillery of their time using yellow gunpowder. The eco-park on the mountain combines natural scenery with ecological conservation, making it a great place for leisure and hiking.
