Tongxiao Shrine Introduction
The Japanese occupation site~a historically significant example of traditional Japanese architecture. The Tongxiao Shrine, which has a strong Japanese shrine atmosphere, is located within Huto Mountain Park. It was constructed in 1937 and currently consists of the main hall foundation, haiden ruins, the approach road, worship hall, torii gate, and shrine office. Although the mountain's elevation is less than 100 meters, the broad view overlooks the streets of Tongxiao, and the long path leading up is quite charming. The Tongxiao Shrine sits atop Huto Mountain in Tongxiao and has been weathered by many storms over the years, resulting in its architectural appearance being nearly in ruins. Recently, it was restored by the Miaoli County Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the shrine's appearance is nearly identical to its original state, even enhanced in some areas. Additionally, on June 19, 2005, the township office held a ceremony for the "Historical Buildings of Miaoli County - Reappearance of the New Look of Tongxiao Shrine" in front of the shrine, celebrating with a series of lively activities.
