Tongxiao Shrine Introduction
Japanese Colonial Ruins: A historically significant traditional Japanese building. The Tongxiao Shrine, which has a strong Japanese shrine atmosphere, is located in Huto Mountain Park. Built in 1937, it features primarily the main shrine's base, the remains of the offering hall, the approach path, the worship hall, the torii gate, and the shrine office. Though the mountain's elevation is less than 100 meters, the broad view overlooks the streets of Tongxiao, providing a charming experience as one ascends the long steps along the path. The Tongxiao Shrine, situated on Huto Mountain in Tongxiao, has weathered many years and is nearly in ruins. Recently, the Miaoli County Cultural Affairs Bureau completed restoration, returning the shrine to almost its original appearance, with even enhancements made. On June 19, 2005, a completion ceremony titled "Miaoli County Historic Buildings - Reappearing the New Appearance of Tongxiao Shrine" was held in front of the shrine, accompanied by a series of lively celebrations.
