鹿港地藏王廟

To the north of Lugang is the Tianhou Temple, while to the south is the Dizangwang Temple, representing the northern and southern beliefs of the local population associated with the deity of heaven and the deity of earth. The belief in Dizangwang is highly regarded in Lugang, with the temple experiencing a surge of worship during the Ghost Festival. During this time, the normally closed doors of the temple are opened and the "Yulan Pen Festival" is held until nightfall. The Dizangwang Temple is oriented to the east and faces west, structured as a three-section two-entrance layout. It was established in the second year of the Kangxi reign (1663 AD) as a small earthen temple and was rebuilt into a brick temple in the twenty-second year of the Kangxi reign (1683 AD). Now 343 years old, the temple primarily enshrines the Dizangwang Bodhisattva, along with the local deity, the Zhuseng Niangniang, and the Ten Yama Kings. Its layout consists of two halls and two corridors, with the main hall dedicated to the Dizangwang Bodhisattva, and side niches for the local deity and Zhuseng Niangniang. The temple also houses a statue of Dizangwang from the Jiaqing period, a plaque from the fourth year of the Guangxu reign (1878 AD) bearing the words "Tianzhu Zunyan," and a commemorative stone tablet established in the twenty-third year of the Jiaqing reign.
