鹿港地藏王廟

To the north of Lukang is the Tianhou Temple, and to the south is the Dizangwang Temple, representing the spiritual beliefs of the local communities balancing heaven and earth in Lukang. The worship of Dizangwang is highly regarded in Lukang, with incense offerings thriving during the Ghost Festival. During this time, the usually closed doors of the temple open wide to host the "Ulambana Festival," continuing until nightfall when the activities conclude. The Dizangwang Temple is oriented east to west and has a scale of three halls and two courtyards. It was established in the 2nd year of the Kangxi reign (1663) as a small earthen temple. In the 22nd year of the Kangxi reign (1683), it was rebuilt as a brick temple. Now 343 years old, the temple primarily enshrines Dizangwang Bodhisattva, along with Jingshu Zunshen, Zhusheng Niangniang, and the Ten Kings of Hell. Its layout features two halls and two corridors, with the main hall dedicated to Dizangwang Bodhisattva, and side niches dedicated to Jingshu Zunshen and Zhusheng Niangniang. The temple contains a statue of Dizangwang from the Jiaqing period, the plaque "Tianzhu Zunyan" from the 4th year of the Guangxu reign (1878), and the "Donation Tablet Record of Chongxing Jingyi Garden" established in the 23rd year of the Jiaqing reign.
