Xingang (Rainbow) Waterfall Introduction
Located on the west side of Chenggong Township in Taitung County, Taiwan, New Port Waterfall, also known as Rainbow Waterfall or Malalu Waterfall, was referred to as "Weishen Falls" during the Japanese colonial period. Geographically, it belongs to the eastern foothills of the Xinguang Mountain, part of the Taiwan Coastal Mountain Range, with its source in Xinguang Mountain. The waterfall has a drop of approximately 200 meters and is part of the Xinguang River basin. It is one of the rare long waterfalls in Taiwan and has the highest drop among the waterfalls on the eastern coast, making it one of the top ten famous waterfalls in Taiwan. Currently, there is a Malalu Trail developed by the township office that allows access to the waterfall, with a small parking lot for vehicles at the trail entrance. The entire trail takes about forty minutes to one hour to walk.
