Xingang (Rainbow) Waterfall Introduction

Located on the west side of Chenggong Township, Taitung County, the New Port Waterfall, also known as Rainbow Waterfall and Malau Waterfall, was referred to as "Weishen Falls" during the Japanese occupation. Geographically, it belongs to the eastern foothills of the Xinguang Mountain in the Coastal Mountain Range of Taiwan, originating from Xinguang Mountain. The waterfall has a height of approximately 200 meters and is part of the Xinguang River basin. It is a rare long waterfall in Taiwan and has the highest drop among waterfalls on the eastern coast, ranking it among the top ten famous waterfalls in Taiwan. Currently, there is a Malau Trail developed by the township office for access, with a small parking area for cars at the trail entrance. The entire trail takes about forty minutes to an hour to complete.

Xingang (Rainbow) Waterfall Travel Information

Address：Sanmin Industrial Road, Chenggong Township, Taitung County 961, Taiwan

Transportation Methods：By bus: Take the Hsing Tung Bus No. 8101, 8102, 8103, 8107, 8119, 8120, or 8125 and get off at the Sanmin Elementary School stop. Follow Sanmin Road along County Road 18, turn left onto Furong Road, then at the fork, turn right onto County Road 16 toward the Sanmin Industrial Road. At the fork with the sign for the Ma Lao Lou Trail, turn right and go uphill to the entrance of the Ma Lao Lou Trail, then follow the trail. The distance to the waterfall is approximately 6 kilometers, excluding the trail. It is recommended to rent transportation to get there.

Remarks：1. To reach the Xianggang Waterfall, you need to pass through the Malau Trail, so please prepare your equipment. 2. If you want to view the Xianggang Waterfall from a distance, you can see it clearly beside the banyan tree at the entrance of the Malau Trail.
