Xingang (Rainbow) Waterfall Introduction

New Port Waterfall, also known as Rainbow Waterfall and Mālāo Lòu Waterfall, is located on the west side of Chenggong Township in Taitung County, Taiwan. During the Japanese colonial period, it was referred to as "Weishen Falls". Geographically, it lies at the foothills of Xinguang Mountain on the eastern side of the Taiwan Coastal Range, originating from Xinguang Mountain itself. The waterfall has a drop of approximately 200 meters, making it one of Taiwan's rare long waterfalls and the tallest waterfall on the eastern coast, thus ranking it among the top ten famous waterfalls in Taiwan. Currently, there is a trail opened by the township office called the Mālāo Lòu Trail that leads to the waterfall, with a small parking lot at the entrance. The trail takes about 40 minutes to an hour to walk.

Address：Sanmin Industrial Road, Chenggong Township, Taitung County 961, Taiwan

Transportation Methods：By bus: Take the Hsing Tung Bus (Xing Dong Bus) routes 8101, 8102, 8103, 8107, 8119, 8120, or 8125, and get off at Sanmin Elementary School Station. Follow Dong 18 Township Road (Sanmin Road) to Sanmin Elementary School, turn left onto Furong Road, then at the junction turn right onto Dong 16 Township Road (Sanmin Industry Road). At the junction marked with a sign for the Ma Laolu Trail, turn right uphill to the entrance of the Ma Laolu Trail and follow the trail; the distance from the starting point to the waterfall is about 6 kilometers. It is recommended to rent transportation to get there.

Remarks：1. To reach the bottom of Xinguang Waterfall, you need to go through the Malaolu Trail, so please prepare your gear. 2. If you want to view Xinguang Waterfall from a distance, you can see it clearly next to the white banyan tree at the entrance of the Malaolu Trail.
