Jinshan Temple (Kaitai Jinshan Temple) Introduction
Jinshan Temple, established nearly 150 years ago, serves as the spiritual center for residents of Jinshan District in Hsinchu City, as well as those from nearby Zhudong and Baoshan. During the Chinese New Year and festivals, devotees come to worship and pay respects overnight. In the era before the development of the Science Park, the temple was surrounded by lush greenery, resembling an ancient mountain temple, providing a pilgrimage atmosphere for visitors coming to light incense at Jinshan Temple. The temple, built in the mid-Qing Dynasty, features a courtyard-style layout with a main hall that is three bays wide, flanked by guardian dragons on both sides. The brick walls and structure exhibit a rustic beauty, while the stone lions at the entrance are ancient and powerful in design, adding significant historical value. The temple enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva, the protector of Lin Hecheng's pioneering efforts. In 1853, the land was donated by the pioneer Guo family to build a humble abode named Xianglian An, which has undergone multiple reconstructions to reach its present scale.
