Jinshan Temple (Kaishan Jinshan Temple) Introduction

Jinshan Temple, which has a history of nearly 150 years, is a center of faith for residents in the Jinshan neighborhood of Hsinchu City and nearby Zhudong and Baoshan. During festivals and holidays, devotees come to worship and stay overnight. In the days before the development of the Science Park, the surroundings were shaded by trees, resembling an ancient temple deep in the mountains, creating a pilgrimage atmosphere when visiting Jinshan Temple for incense offerings. Jinshan Temple, built in the mid-Qing Dynasty, is a single courtyard-style temple with three bays and dragon guardians on both sides. Its brick walls and structure possess a rustic beauty, and the stone lions at the entrance are crafted with an ancient strength, showcasing significant historical value. The temple is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, who is the guardian deity of the Lin Hecheng reclamation settlement. Established in 1853 on land donated by the head of the settlement, Guo Family, the temple, originally named Xianglian An (Fragrant Lotus Hermitage), has undergone several reconstructions to achieve its present scale.
