Jinshan Temple (Kaitai Jinshan Temple) Introduction

Jinshan Temple, established nearly 150 years ago, is the center of faith for residents of Jinshan District in Hsinchu City, as well as those from nearby Zhudong and Baoshan. During the New Year and festivals, worshippers come to pay their respects overnight. In the era before the Science Park was developed, the area was shaded by trees, resembling an ancient temple deep in the mountains, creating a pilgrimage atmosphere for visitors to Jinshan Temple. Jinshan Temple is a mid-Qing Dynasty structure, built in a traditional courtyard style with a central hall and flanked by guardian dragons. The brick walls and structures feature a rustic beauty, while the stone lions at the entrance are crafted in a primitive and vigorous style, adding significant historical value. The temple primarily enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva, who is regarded as the protector of Lin He-cheng's reclamation group. It was originally established in 1853 with land donated by the reclamation leader Guo family and called Xianglian Hermitage. After multiple reconstructions, it has reached its current scale.
