Jinshan Temple (Kaitai Jinshan Temple) Introduction
Jinshan Temple, built nearly 150 years ago, serves as a center of faith for the residents of Jinshan District in Hsinchu City, as well as those from nearby Zhudong and Baoshan. During festivals and the New Year, worshippers come to pay their respects overnight. In the days before the development of the Science Park, the surroundings were heavily shaded by trees, resembling an ancient temple deep in the mountains, creating an atmosphere similar to a pilgrimage when visiting Jinshan Temple to offer incense. Jinshan Temple is an architectural structure from the mid-Qing Dynasty, designed in a single-entry, three-bay layout with side dragon guardians. Its brick walls and construction exhibit a rustic beauty, while the stone lions at the entrance possess an ancient and powerful style that carries significant historical value. The temple primarily worships Guanyin Bodhisattva, who was considered the protector of the Lin family's agricultural venture. In 1853, the land was donated by the leader of the venture, Guo Jia, to build a small hut named Xianglian An. After several reconstructions, it has grown into its current scale.
