Jinshan Temple (Kaitai Jinshan Temple) Introduction

Jinshan Temple, established nearly 150 years ago, serves as the religious center for residents of Jinshan District in Hsinchu City, as well as nearby Zhudong and Baoshan. During festivals and holidays, worshippers come to pay their respects all night long. In the days before the Science Park was developed, the area was shaded by trees, resembling an ancient mountain temple, creating a pilgrimage-like atmosphere for those visiting Jinshan Temple to light incense. Built during the mid-Qing Dynasty, Jinshan Temple is a courtyard-style temple consisting of a single main hall with three bays, flanked by guardian dragons on both sides. The brick walls and construction techniques exhibit a rustic beauty. The stone lions at the entrance are crafted in an ancient and robust style, adding significant historical value. The temple primarily enshrines the Guanyin Bodhisattva, the protector of the Lin Hecheng settlement. In 1853, land was donated by the settlement leader Guo's family to build a straw hut named Xianglian An. After several reconstructions, it has developed into its current scale.
