Jincheng Lake Introduction

Hsinchu is near the estuary of the Kejia River, where Jincheng Lake, originally known as the Devil's Pond, is located. It was once silted up, but after restoration, it has become an important resting site for wild birds in northern Taiwan. There are at least 250 species of birds, making this the biggest attraction of the area. Its intertidal zone is home to many marine organisms, filled with fish, crabs, shellfish, and more. Jincheng Lake is a major stopover for many migratory birds, and the lake and embankment are the best places for bird watching, with September to May being the optimal times. Jincheng Lake is the best bird-watching spot in the Gangnan area, and birdwatching enthusiasts should not miss it.
