Jincheng Lake Introduction
Jincheng Lake, located near the mouth of Kejia River in Hsinchu, was originally known as Hell's Pond. It was initially silted up, but after restoration, it has become a crucial resting area for wild birds in northern Taiwan. There are at least 250 species of birds here, making it a significant feature of the area. The intertidal zone is home to many coastal organisms, filled with fish, crabs, shellfish, and more. Jincheng Lake is a major stopover for migratory birds, and the best places for birdwatching are along the lake and its embankments. The optimal time for birdwatching is from September to May each year. Jincheng Lake is the best birdwatching spot in the Gangnan area, and birdwatching enthusiasts should not miss it.
