Hsinchu Port South Coastal Scenic Area Introduction
Hsinchu Port Nanbei Coastal Scenic Area is located in the northwest of Hsinchu City. Originally a beach for swimming, it has been closed for swimming due to pollution in recent years. Instead, a vast, scenic area with abundant recreational facilities has been planned within the levee, making it a fun destination along the western coastal line of Hsinchu. In 2003, the Tourism Bureau commissioned a consulting company to plan the area as one of the coastal recreational spots in the western region. The city government then strengthened the river management according to the proposed plan and constructed public facilities such as walkways, pavilions, and children's playgrounds. After significant renovation and improvement, the area transformed from a rather desolate state into a destination where people flock on holidays to relax. In 2017, the city government actively revitalized Port Nan, where the Port Nan Canal is 20 meters wide and 1500 meters long, becoming one of Hsinchu City's eight major attractions. The canal’s reclaimed land has undergone years of ecological evolution, resulting in a diverse and precious ecological environment. The city government aims to introduce various water activities, providing a quality urban leisure water green corridor.
