Due to being surrounded by mountains, when the sun shines, the moisture accumulated in the forests evaporates into clouds and mist, resembling a mass of white waves rolling among the green mountains, creating a sea of clouds. There are many places to appreciate the sea of clouds here, with the area around Xiaogetou on the North Yilan Highway being the most famous. Looking north from Xiaogetou towards Yuguai Ridge and other mountains, the peaks rise above the clouds. Whenever there is a slight change in the weather, the entire mountain range sinks into the sea of clouds, creating a magnificent sight. Compared to other spots in Taiwan for viewing the sea of clouds, its lower elevation and higher frequency of occurrence are its distinct features.
