Emerald Tea Garden Introduction

Wenshan Baozhong tea is a well-known tea from northern Taiwan, with production areas ranging from Wenshan to Pinglin. In the scenic Shiding District of New Taipei City, a young tea farmer named Tseng Jen-Tsung returned to his hometown after working elsewhere, inheriting his father's tea-making skills and dedication, which allows for the production of high-quality, pesticide-free Wenshan Baozhong tea that retains its fragrance in tea shops. The Tseng family has farmed for generations. Originally working at an urban construction company, Tseng took a decisive step to leave his city job after participating in the Council of Agriculture's “Drifting Birds Camp” at the Taoyuan Agricultural Research and Extension Station, returning to the mountains of Shiding to take over his father's tea business. The tea garden of the Tseng family thrives in an optimal growing environment, becoming a popular hidden spot for photography enthusiasts. In the early morning, a light mist envelops the tea garden and the emerald reservoir, resembling a mystical scene from an ink wash painting; at dusk, a vivid sunset resembling an egg yolk, along with stunning evening clouds, create a breathtaking view mirrored on the tranquil waters of the emerald reservoir, as the sun slowly sets amidst the awe of onlookers. One of Tseng's greatest prides is the "Bagua Tea Garden" left by his father. Set atop a small hill, the tea garden's unique terrain and orderly layout resemble the patterns of a Bagua on the earth. "This rare sight is known only to the connoisseurs. Many photography lovers often arrive here early in the morning and stay until evening just to capture a beautiful landscape photo." In addition to inheriting the excellent family techniques for growing and processing tea, Tseng seeks to introduce innovative techniques and methods, actively participating in various courses organized by the Council of Agriculture and collaborating with local farmer associations for marketing efforts to expand the brand. The tea he cultivates with such dedication often receives awards; however, Tseng is not content with the status quo. The beautiful and serene environment of his hometown, which he cherished even while working away, led him to recognize the importance and greatness of this land upon his return. He hopes to convey this natural purity through the tea he grows, thus embarking on a journey toward healthy organic farming, producing tea that is free from toxins and passes pesticide inspections, allowing consumers to feel the health benefits of clear water quality and natural environments with every sip. Under Tseng's careful attention, the tea garden is gradually filled with natural vitality, and every summer night, fireflies dance with the mountain breeze. Fireflies, which can only thrive in an unpolluted environment, are the best biological indicator of a pesticide-free ecosystem and the most beautiful encouragement for Tseng's tea garden. "Where there is flowing water, there are fireflies, and where there are many fireflies, there are also many frogs. With more frogs, well! Be careful of snakes when walking through the grass!" Tseng loves to remind every visitor to the tea garden with a relaxed tone. "Don't be afraid of these insects and creatures; a healthy environment fosters rich biodiversity, and the crops grown will also be healthy." Pursuing health and vitality in the tea garden and tea itself embodies Tseng's agricultural philosophy.
