Emerald Tea Garden Introduction
Wenshan Paochung tea is a well-known quality tea in northern Taiwan, with its production area extending from Wenshan to Pinglin. In the picturesque Shiding District of New Taipei City, there is a young tea farmer, Tseng Jen-Tzong, who once worked outside but decided to return home to inherit his father's tea-making skills and dedication. He ensures that high-quality, pesticide-free Wenshan Paochung tea retains its fragrance in tea shops. The Tseng family has been involved in agriculture for generations. Originally working in an urban construction company, Tseng took a decisive step to leave his city job after participating in the "Drifting Bird Camp" organized by the Council of Agriculture's Taoyuan Agricultural Research and Extension Station, returning to continue his father's tea production business in the mountains of Shiding. The tea garden of Tseng's family benefits from an excellent growing environment, often visited by photography enthusiasts as a hidden gem. In the mornings, a thin mist envelops the tea garden and the Xindian Reservoir, resembling a scene from an ink wash painting. At dusk, a bright sunset like an egg yolk reflects beautifully on the tranquil waters of the Xindian Reservoir, creating a stunning picture, as the sunset slowly descends amidst the awe of onlookers. One of Tseng's proudest legacies is the "Bagua Tea Garden" left by his father. Situated on a small hill, the tea garden's unique terrain and the arrangement of tea trees create an orderly landscape, mirroring the arrangement of the Bagua on the earth. "This rare scene is known only to those in the know. Many photography lovers often arrive early in the morning and wait till evening for a beautiful landscape photo." In addition to inheriting his family's excellent tea cultivation and production techniques, Tseng seeks to introduce innovative technologies and methods. He actively participates in various courses organized by the Council of Agriculture and cooperates with local agricultural associations for marketing, striving to expand his brand. His diligent efforts often yield award-winning teas; however, Tseng is not one to rest on his laurels. The beautiful and serene environment of his hometown, which he still cherishes, has deepened his appreciation for the land's significance after returning. He hopes to communicate this natural purity through the tea he cultivates, thus embarking on a journey toward healthy organic agriculture by growing toxin-free and pesticide-free tea. His goal is to ensure that consumers feel the health benefits of clear water quality and a natural environment with every sip. Under Tseng Jen-Tzong's careful nurturing, the tea garden is now gradually filled with vibrant natural life; during summer evenings, fireflies dance in the mountain breeze. Fireflies, which can only thrive in unpolluted environments, serve as excellent biological indicators of the pesticide-free environment and are the most beautiful encouragement for Tseng’s tea garden. "Where there is flowing water, there are fireflies. In places abundant with fireflies, there are also many frogs, and where frogs are numerous, be careful of snakes when walking through the grass!" Tseng often reminds each visitor to the tea garden in a lighthearted manner. "Don't be afraid of these insects and creatures; a healthy environment brings rich biodiversity, which leads to healthy crops." Tseng’s philosophy in tea farming emphasizes health and vitality.
