Emerald Tea Garden Introduction
Wenshan Paochong tea is a renowned tea from northern Taiwan, with its production area stretching from Wenshan to Pinglin. In the picturesque Shiding District of New Taipei City, there is a young tea farmer named Tseng Jhen-tsung. After working in the city, he decided to return home and inherit his father's tea-making skills and principles, resulting in a high-quality, pesticide-free Wenshan Paochong tea that leaves a fragrant mark in tea shops. The Tseng family has been engaged in agriculture for generations. Originally working for an urban construction company, Tseng Jhen-tsung took part in the "Migratory Bird Camp" organized by the Council of Agriculture in Taoyuan, which led him to decisively leave his city job and return to the Shiding mountains to take over his father's tea business. The Tseng family's tea garden has an excellent growing environment, and its serene setting is a secret spot often visited by photography enthusiasts. In the early morning, a thin mist envelops the tea garden and the Emerald Lake, resembling a fairyland from an ink wash painting; at dusk, the sunset shines brightly like a yolk, casting a stunning scene reflected on the calm waters of the lake, which elicits gasps of admiration as the sun slowly sets. Tseng Jhen-tsung is particularly proud of his father's "Bagua Tea Garden." The tea garden on the hillside, due to its terrain and the growth patterns of the tea trees, presents a neatly arranged landscape that resembles the trigrams of the Bagua arrayed on the earth. "This rare scene is known only to the insiders. Many photography enthusiasts often come here early and wait until evening just to capture a beautiful landscape photo." In addition to inheriting the excellent skills of tea planting and production from his family, Tseng actively participates in various courses organized by the Council of Agriculture and collaborates with local agricultural associations for marketing, diligently expanding his brand. His dedicated efforts have resulted in tea that frequently wins awards. However, Tseng Jhen-tsung is not satisfied with the status quo. The beautiful and serene environment of his hometown makes it impossible for him to forget this tea garden even while working elsewhere. Upon returning, he re-recognized the importance and greatness of this land and hoped to convey the natural purity of his cultivated tea to everyone. Thus, he began to move towards healthy organic safe agriculture, planting non-toxic, pesticide-free tea that ensures consumers enjoy a healthful cup of tea, embodying the clear water quality and natural environment. Under Tseng Jhen-tsung's meticulous care, the tea garden is gradually filled with the vitality of nature. Every summer night, fireflies dance with the mountain breeze. Fireflies, which can only thrive in an unpolluted environment, are the best biological indicators of a natural pesticide-free surroundings and serve as beautiful encouragement for Tseng's tea garden. "Wherever there is flowing water, there are fireflies. Where there are many fireflies, there are also many frogs. And when there are many frogs, be careful of snakes while passing through the grass!" Tseng Jhen-tsung always reminds visitors to the tea garden in a lighthearted manner. "Don't be afraid of these insects and creatures; a healthy environment nurtures rich biodiversity, and the crops grown here will be healthy." For him, pursuing health and vitality in the tea garden and tea itself embodies Tseng Jhen-tsung’s agricultural philosophy.
