Osmanthus Tea Farm Introduction
Osmanthus Garden, located in Longsheng Village, Shiding District, also known as Osmanthus Village, is the largest osmanthus ecological farm in Taiwan and one of the ancient tea regions. Situated at an altitude of over 300 meters, the soil contains gravel, and the rainfall is moderate throughout the year. Back in the 1950s and 60s, during the peak of tea production, local tea farmers used osmanthus flowers as a spice for roasting tea leaves to enhance the tea's added value, requiring 25 kilograms of osmanthus for every 100 kilograms of tea. Therefore, a large number of osmanthus trees are planted beside the tea gardens. The osmanthus season runs from October to April each year. After August, the villagers, young and old, wander through the osmanthus forest to collect fresh flowers, creating a unique local landscape that forms an important part of the residents' memories. In spring, one can see butterflies flying around; in summer, fireflies embellish the flowers and grass; and in autumn and winter, the fragrance of osmanthus fills the air, making it well worth a visit. The farm features signature dishes all incorporating "osmanthus," including Osmanthus Drunken Chicken, Tea Oil Handmade Noodles, and Osmanthus Fragrant Feet, as well as osmanthus braised dishes and handmade cookies that make great souvenirs, along with tea brewing services. Besides dining and tea tasting, Osmanthus Garden has also planned the Osmanthus Lane and the Century-Old Osmanthus Trail, attracting many visitors to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery while savoring good tea and snacks, making for a leisurely afternoon tea experience.
