Tea Town Osmanthus Garden Introduction
The Osmanthus Garden is located in the Longsheng Village of Shiding District, also known as Osmanthus Village. It is the largest osmanthus ecological farm in Taiwan and one of the ancient tea regions of the island, situated over 300 meters above sea level. The soil contains gravel, and the region enjoys a moderate amount of rainfall throughout the year. As early as the 1950s and 1960s, during the peak of tea production, local tea farmers used osmanthus as a spice for roasting tea, enhancing its value. For every 100 kilograms of tea, 25 kilograms of osmanthus were needed, which led to the planting of a large number of osmanthus trees beside the tea gardens. From October to April each year is the osmanthus season. After August, the villagers, young and old, wander through the osmanthus forest to collect fresh flowers, creating a unique local landscape that is an important memory for the residents. In spring, you can see butterflies fluttering; in summer, fireflies illuminate the flowers and grasses; and in autumn and winter, the fragrant osmanthus is a beautiful sight, making it a worthwhile destination to visit. The garden offers signature dishes made entirely with "osmanthus," including specialties like osmanthus drunken chicken, tea oil handmade noodles, and osmanthus-flavored pig’s trotter. Additionally, there are osmanthus braised dishes and handmade osmanthus cookies available as souvenirs, along with tea brewing services. Beyond food and tea tasting, the Osmanthus Garden has also planned the Osmanthus Alley and a century-old osmanthus trail, attracting many visitors who come to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery while savoring good tea and snacks, all while spending a relaxing afternoon tea time.
