Tamsui's "Hsin Sheng Fa Bakery" is a well-established store in Banqiao's Puqiang area with a history of fifty years. This branch is the first one opened in those fifty years, having been purchased for forty million and completely renovated. With a focus on the handcrafted concept of a "Taiwanese cultural bakery," it aims to provide tourists visiting Tamsui with the traditional flavors they remember. The founder, Du Fa, began as an apprentice at the age of thirteen and immersed himself in the pastry business. Initially, he sold traditional offerings like noodle turtles for ceremonies and other types of Chinese pastries. Thanks to the quality ingredients and excellent taste, he gradually made a name for himself locally. In addition to preserving traditional flavors, the bakery constantly experiments with new products. One iconic item is the "Dou Rong Pork Floss Puff," a creation of Du Fa from about sixteen years ago, which has become Hsin Sheng Fa's exclusive signature product. His siblings, Du Su Zhi and Mei Nu, both studied baking techniques in Japan, learning to balance the sweetness and sourness of the mung bean filling with pork floss while also developing a method to keep the product fresh for six days without preservatives.
