Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Center & Sunset Camping Site (Campground, Second Floor Scenic Restaurant and First Floor Café suspended operations until January 31, 2026) Introduction

Slowly Sunset Camping Ground, the second-floor scenic restaurant, and the first-floor café will be closed for business until January 31, 2026. Tour Tips: ◼️ Ecology Experience Center - Circular Theater, Interactive Experience Zone, and Ecological Education Center ◼️ Enjoy the sunset at Gaomei Wetlands and observe the windmills, as well as stargazing at night. To avoid overcrowding that could damage the local landscape and ecology, the Taichung City Government's Construction Bureau spent over two years building the "Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Service Center." Covering approximately 8.4 hectares, the center includes the visitor service building and two parking lots (Parking Lot 68 and Parking Lot 69), which can accommodate 27 large buses, 568 cars, and 205 motorcycles. The visitor service center is a two-story building with a sloped design, resembling a spiral shape, like waves rising from the ground. The second floor has a viewing platform where visitors can enjoy the sunset at Gaomei and the windmills, as well as stargazing at night. The outdoor plaza features crab-shaped and shell-shaped installation art alongside an outdoor ecological pond for visitors to photograph and closely observe wetland ecology. In addition to providing travel information and guided tours, an "Ecology Experience Center" is also planned to help visitors gain a more comprehensive and profound understanding of wetland and ecological knowledge. Furthermore, the visitor service center has a dining area, a cultural and creative product area, and regularly hosts concerts, ecological lectures, and various activities to provide visitors with greater comfort and convenience during their travel and leisure time. Feature of the attraction: The Ecology Experience Center inside the visitor center is divided into a circular theater, an interactive experience zone, and an ecological education center. Upon entering the circular theater, visitors can experience the impact of a 360-degree projection. The theater showcases the beauty of Gaomei Wetlands across its four seasons and different times of the day, with every scene vividly displaying the unique magical landscape of Gaomei Wetlands. Arriving at the interactive experience zone, the "Wetland Knowledge Wall" at the entrance provides an overview of global wetlands and migratory routes of migratory birds. The zone guides visitors to understand the development history of Gaomei Wetlands and recognize the flora and fauna that inhabit the area. Notably, through technology, visitors can experience the "Gaomei Tide," which simulates the sunset at Gaomei even on cloudy days. "Wetland Plants," "Crabs Dancing," and "Soaring High" are particularly popular among children, featuring three interactive games designed with sensory devices to enhance kids' impressions of wetland ecology. Visitors can also take exclusive photos with friends and family at the "Gaomei Memory Wall"! The ecological education center at the exit plans various ecological lectures and activities from time to time. The Ecology Experience Center aims to convey correct knowledge about wetlands through diverse means, hoping to plant the seed in visitors’ hearts that "sustainable use of wetlands needs your protection." In response to the exceptional natural environment, Slowly Sunset Camping Ground, located 20 meters from the coast, offers a stay-and-dine experience combined with the rich resources surrounding the Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Service Center, providing ecological experience courses to gain a deeper understanding of blue carbon ecosystems. Utilizing locally sourced fresh ingredients, the "Tidal Island Restaurant" located on the second floor of the visitor service center, boasting unbeatable sea views, and the "Slightly Tipsy Sunset" vegetarian bistro on the first floor offer creatively crafted dishes full of local characteristics, creating a luxurious camping spot perfect for family travel and groups.
