Dazhongye Temple (Camphor Tree) Introduction

The old camphor tree is over 700 years old and stands 30 meters tall, located in front of the Dajhong Temple, a popular site for worship in Jiji. In the early Guangxu period, devotees renovated the original small shrine into a larger temple, and a statue of Dajhong Ye was sculpted for worship. The ancient camphor tree, due to its long history, is regarded by local people as a deity and is worshiped as "Zhangshu Gong." Every year on the 23rd day of the 8th lunar month, countless visitors come to pay their respects to Zhangshu Gong. In 1999, the local government secured funding from the Environmental Protection Administration to build a recreational park, providing a place for travelers to rest and cool off in the shade of the tree.
