Dajangye Temple (Big Camphor Tree) Introduction
The camphor tree is over 700 years old and stands 30 meters tall. It is located in front of the Dajong Temple, which is famous for its lively spirit medium. In the early Guangxu period, the worshippers rebuilt the original small shrine into a larger temple, enshrining a statue of the deity Dajong Ye for worship. Due to its long history, the local people regard the ancient camphor tree as a deity and refer to it as "Zhang Shu Gong". Every year on the 23rd day of the eighth lunar month, a celebration in honor of Zhang Shu Gong is held, attracting countless visitors. In 1999, the local government secured funding from the Environmental Protection Administration to build a recreational park, providing a shaded area for travelers to rest and cool off under the tree.
