Dazhong Temple (Big Camphor Tree) Introduction
The large camphor tree is over 700 years old, standing at 30 meters tall, located in front of the well-known Dajia Jenqun Temple in Jiji. During the early Guangxu era, devotees rebuilt the original small shrine into a temple, transforming the statue of Dajia Jenqun into a deity for worship. Due to its long history, the local people regard the ancient camphor tree as a deity and refer to it as "Zhangshu Gong." Every year on the 23rd of the 8th lunar month, the celebration of Zhangshu Gong attracts countless visitors and worshippers. In 1999, the local government secured funding from the Environmental Protection Administration to construct a leisure park for travelers to relax in the shade of the tree.
