Dazhong Ye Temple (Big Camphor Tree) Introduction

The camphor tree is over 700 years old and stands 30 meters tall. It is located in front of the highly frequented Dazhong Temple in Jiji. In the early years of the Guangxu era, devotees renovated the original small shrine to build the temple. A statue of Dazhong, who is worshiped as a deity, was created for offerings. This ancient camphor tree is revered by the locals as a god and is affectionately referred to as "Camphor Tree Lord." Every year on the 23rd day of the eighth lunar month, a large number of worshippers come to pay their respects during the Camphor Tree Lord's birthday. In 1999, the local government secured funding from the Environmental Protection Administration to build a leisure park, providing visitors with a shaded area for relaxation.
