Xiluo Yanping Old Street (Xiluo East Market) Introduction
The Eastern Market is located in the Zaitou area of Xiluo Township and was built in the 1940s. The wood used was repurposed from the old materials of the Xiluo Bridge's temporary bridge. After undergoing debates over its existence, the current Eastern Market has transformed from a traditional market to a cultural and creative market, featuring cultural crafts and street performers. Xiluo Yanping Old Street was influenced by Baroque architectural styles during the Japanese colonial period, with most buildings being two or three stories high. The various designs of the parapets are the most striking features, with the elongated and flat shapes being the most common, complemented by narrow window sills, allowing visitors to experience the quaint and elegant charm of old times.
