Dingzhuang Community Introduction
In Dingzhuang Village, Chiayi City, the environmental and ecological transformation has made significant progress over the years. The old Taiwan Sugar Corporation railway has been transformed into a community bicycle path, where clusters of Lucanus cervus can be seen on both sides of the light wax trees, which is quite surprising! The rehabilitation of Lucanus cervus is not easy; the Dingzhuang community has improved water quality, the environment, planted light wax trees, and built cycling paths to create a suitable living environment for them. Every year, in mid-May, Lucanus cervus emerge from the soil to find mates and reproduce, with hundreds of them occupying the light wax trees, displaying various postures and even engaging in battles, creating a remarkable scene. Lucanus cervus is known as the "Iron Armored Warrior." The "Searching for Lucanus cervus" event is held annually from mid-May to the end of June, welcoming families to participate, allowing children to connect with nature and reminisce about childhood memories. It is worth mentioning that in 2017, the Chiayi City Government held the "1st Golden Rural Competition," and Dingzhuang Community was awarded the top prize as the Golden Rural.
