Dingzhuang Community Introduction
Dingzhuang Neighborhood in Chiayi City has successfully transformed its environmental ecology over the years by converting the old Taiwan Sugar Corporation railway into a community bike path. Along both sides, many stag beetles can be seen on the Cerbera manghas trees, bringing great surprises! The restoration of stag beetles is not easy, but the Dingzhuang community has created a suitable living environment through water quality improvement, environmental enhancement, planting Cerbera manghas, and establishing bike paths to bring the stag beetles back. Every year in mid-May, stag beetles emerge from the soil to find mates and reproduce, with hundreds of them settling on the Cerbera manghas trees, displaying various poses and even engaging in battles, creating a breathtaking scene. Stag beetles are nicknamed "Iron Armored Warriors." The activity "Searching for Stag Beetle Traces" takes place annually from mid-May to the end of June, inviting the public to bring their families and let children connect with nature while reminiscing about their childhood memories. It is worth mentioning that in 2017, the Chiayi City Government held the "1st Golden Rural Competition," and Dingzhuang Neighborhood won first place, being selected as the Golden Rural Area.
