Dingzhuang Community Introduction
In the Dingzhuang neighborhood of Chiayi City, years of environmental and ecological transformation have paid off. The old Taiwan Sugar Corporation railway has been converted into a community bicycle path, where clusters of stag beetles can be seen on the sides among the wax trees, providing a delightful surprise! The restoration of stag beetles is not easy; the Dingzhuang community has improved water quality and the environment, planted wax trees, and established bicycle paths to create a suitable living environment that has brought back the stag beetles. Every year in mid-May, stag beetles emerge from the soil to find partners and reproduce, with hundreds of them gathering on the wax trees, displaying various poses and even wrestling with each other, making for an astonishing sight. Stag beetles are nicknamed the "Iron Armor Warriors." The "Searching for Stag Beetle Traces" event runs annually from mid-May to the end of June, inviting the public to bring their families to engage with nature and relive childhood memories. It is worth mentioning that in 2017, the Chiayi City Government held the "First Gold Rural Competition," where the Dingzhuang community emerged victorious, being selected as the Gold Rural area.
