Dingzhuang Community Introduction
The Dingzhuang Community in Chiayi City has made significant progress over the years in environmental and ecological renovation, transforming the old Taiwan Sugar Corporation railway into a community bicycle path. Along both sides of the path, the light wax trees are home to many Rhinoceros beetles, which is a delightful surprise! The restoration of Rhinoceros beetles is not easy, but the Dingzhuang community has created a suitable living environment by improving water quality, enhancing the surroundings, planting light wax trees, and establishing the bicycle path, bringing back the Rhinoceros beetles. Every mid-May, the Rhinoceros beetles emerge from the soil to find partners and reproduce, with hundreds of beetles swarming on the light wax trees, displaying various postures and even engaging in battles, creating a stunning spectacle. The Rhinoceros beetle is often referred to as the "Armored Warrior." The "Hunting for Rhinoceros Beetles" event takes place every year from mid-May to the end of June, inviting families to participate and allowing children to connect with nature and reminisce about childhood memories. Notably, in 2017, the Chiayi City Government held the "First Gold Medal Rural Competition," and the "Dingzhuang Community" won first place, being selected as the Gold Medal Rural area.
