Songshan Railway Station Introduction
Songshan Railway Station is one of the oldest railway stations in Taiwan. It began as a simple ticket office during the construction of the first railway from Keelung to Hsinchu during the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty. The Songshan area was developed early on, originally a settlement of the Ketagalan Plains indigenous tribe, specifically the Malirihou community, and was formerly known as "Daganasikou Street." In the 13th year of Guangxu (1887), the tickets used at that time were replaced by Longma postage stamps. During the Japanese colonial period, in the 9th year of Taisho, Daganasikou Street was renamed Songshan Village, Qixing County, Taipei Prefecture, and "Xikou Station" was renamed "Songshan Station."
