Songshan Railway Station Introduction
Songshan Railway Station is one of the few historically significant train stations in Taiwan. Built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, it served as a simple ticket office for the first railway from Keelung to Hsinchu. The development of the Songshan area began early, originally a settlement of the Ketagalan Plains indigenous group known as the Maoli Village. The old place name was "Dajianaxikou Street." In the 13th year of Guangxu (1887), the tickets used at that time were substituted with dragon and horse stamps. During the Japanese colonial era, in the 9th year of Taisho, Dajianaxi Kou Street was renamed Songshan Village in Qixing District, Taipei Prefecture, and "Xikou Station" was also renamed "Songshan Station."
