Songshan Railway Station Introduction
Songshan Railway Station is one of the oldest train stations in Taiwan. It was built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty as the first railway from Keelung to Hsinchu, and at that time, Songshan was already a simple ticketing office. The development of the Songshan area began early; it was originally a settlement of the Ketagalan Plain indigenous people, specifically the Mao-li tribe. The old name of the area was "Dajianaxi Kou Street." In the thirteenth year of Guangxu (1887), the train tickets used were replaced by Dragon Horse postal stamps. During the Japanese colonial period, in the ninth year of Taisho, Dajianaxi Kou Street was renamed Songshan Village in Qixing District, Taipei Prefecture, and the "Xikou Station" was also renamed "Songshan Station."
